University of Chicago's Robert J. Zimmer, Steppenwolf's Martha Lavey and More Set for Arts Alliance Illinois Luncheon Today

The third annual Arts Alliance Illinois Voices of a Creative State benefit luncheon will feature a keynote address by University of Chicago President Robert J. Zimmer, who will discuss the vital, transformational role the arts play in education and civic engagement. The event also will pay tribute to two individuals who have made profound and lasting contributions to Chicago's theater scene: Steppenwolf Theatre Artistic Director Martha Lavey and former Steppenwolf Executive Director David Hawkanson. The event will take place Today, May 20, 2015 at the Swissotel Chicago, 323 E. Upper Wacker Drive.

Steppenwolf Tributes Artistic Director Martha Lavey at Gala 2015 Tonight

Steppenwolf Theatre Company's world-renowned ensemble will join more than 600 members of Chicago's corporate, civic and cultural communities for Gala 2015 today, May 9, 2015 at Steppenwolf, 1650 N Halsted St. The Gala will offer guests a unique opportunity to connect with Steppenwolf ensemble members in their artistic home while enjoying a preview of upcoming productions, cocktails, a gourmet dinner, auction, music and dancing with Steppenwolf co-founder Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announces the full cast for the Chicago premiere production of Grand Concourse, a play full of both humor and heart by Heidi Schreck. Directed by ensemble member Yasen Peyankov, the cast features ensemble members Francis Guinan (8/14 - 8/30) and Tim Hopper (7/2-8/13) sharing the role of Frog and Mariann Mayberry as Shelley with Brittany Uomoleale as Emma and Victor Almanzar as Oscar.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents the U.S. premiere production of The Herd, a deftly comic play by Rory Kinnear. Directed by ensemble member and Tony Award-winning director Frank Galati, the cast features ensemble members Francis Guinan, John Mahoney, Molly Regan and Lois Smith with Cliff Chamberlain and Audrey Francis. The Herd premiered at London's Bush Theatre in 2013. The Herd begins previews tonight, April 2, 2015 (Opening night is April 12, 2015; Press performances are April 11 at 3pm and April 14 at 7:30pm) and runs through June 7, 2015 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St).

Steppenwolf Receives Major Grant from Roy Cockrum Foundation

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has been named the recipient of a major grant from The Roy Cockrum Foundation, which will provide major support for the world premiere production of Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning ensemble member Tracy Letts's intimate and moving new play, Mary Page Marlowe in the 2015/16 Subscription Season.

Steppenwolf Hosts 'Explore' Event for AIRLINE HIGHWAY Tonight

Steppenwolf Theatre Company hosts its second EXPLORE event of the season tonight, January 17 at 5:30pm in-between the matinee and evening performances of the Broadway-bound world premiere Airline Highway. EXPLORE events invite audiences to celebrate the ideas and themes of the play through a fun, social setting. Each EXPLORE event is a unique experience tailored to create an immersive environment that reflects the world of that play.
