Fountain Hills Theater to Present QUILTERS
by Tyler Peterson
- Mar 4, 2016
Fountain Hills Theater is proud to announce the opening of the musical Quilters. Quilters is a marvelous, though rarely produced musical, that blends a series of interrelated scenes into a rich mosaic which captures the sweep and beauty, the terror and joy, the harsh challenge and abiding rewards of frontier life. Illuminating stories contained in various patches or 'blocks' with music, dance and drama, the musical depicts the lot of women on the frontier: girlhood, marriage, childbirth, spinsterhood, twisters, fire, illness and death. But, with this, there is also love, warmth, rich and lively humor and the moving spectacle of simple human dignity and steadfastness in the face of adversity.

Fountain Hills Theater is proud to announce the opening of the classic war-time musical South Pacific. From the haunting 'Bali Hai' to the exquisite 'Some Enchanted Evening,' this Rodgers & Hammerstein classic contains some of the most glorious music ever written. The winner of 10 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, South Pacific tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples on a remote island in the Pacific - a U.S. Navy nurse and an expatriate French plantation owner, and a Marine Corps lieutenant and a young local girl - and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and their own prejudices. Helmed by FHT's Artistic Director Peter J. Hill, and incorporating newsreel footage from WWII, South Pacific balances intimate, personal stories with the sweeping grandeur of wartime drama.

BWW Reviews: ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID Needs More Grooming
by Herbert Paine
- Aug 25, 2014
I'm a great fan of Golden Girls, the legendary and hilarious TV sitcom for which Jamie Wooten was a producer and writer ~ the same Jamie Wooten of the equally prolific comedic trio of Jones Hope Wooten that penned Always A Bridesmaid. I therefore expected a comedy imbued with similar sparkles of wit and sophistication, only to be left at the altar, disappointed by trite, forced, and flat stabs at humor. A bright and shining light of this show is Carli Weekley, as newlywed Kari, whose entr'acte conversations with the guests at her wedding reveal a marvelous comic sensibility. She is joyous in tossing pearls of humor to an audience-in-waiting.
