Houston Cinema Arts Society has announced that Jessica Green will assume the role of Artistic Director for the 10-year old Houston Cinema Arts Festival the multi-venue film and arts festival anchored by Museum of Fine Arts Houston that has the distinction of being the only U.S. film festival devoted to films by and about visual, performing, and literary artists. Green will replace outgoing Artistic Director Richard Herskowitz as programmer-in-chief for the acclaimed festival starting with the 11th annual 5-day festival taking place November 14 18, 2019 in addition to special film engagements throughout the calendar year.

Three-time Emmy Award nominee Adam Driver (Pale) and Golden Globe Award Winner and Emmy Award Nominee Keri Russell (Anna) will lead the first revival of Pulitzer Prize Winner Lanford Wilson's Burn This. Jasmine Cephas Jones will join the cast on HBO's upcoming comedy series Mrs. Fletcher  in a recurring role, according to Deadline. The series stars Kathryn Hahn and is directed and executive produced by Nicole Holofcener.

Joe's Pub, a program and venue of The Public Theater, announces the new class of Joe's Pub Working Group (JPWG), the venue's artist development program dedicated to enhancing the career sustainability and growth of performing artists. Entering its fifth year, JPWG welcomes five artists performer and songwriter Migguel Anggelo, composter and vocalist Trevor Bachman, comedian and performance artist Becca Blackwell, jazz musician and composer Yacine Boulares, and singer-songwriter Treya Lam as the core group that represents the diversity and scope of the nightly programming at Joe's Pub.

Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired Worldwide rights to the supernatural mystery/thriller BEYOND THE NIGHT, the directorial debut from writer/director Jason Noto (“Addiction: A 60's Love Story”). Breaking Glass acquired rights to the film in a deal negotiated between Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff, and producer Robin Garvick on behalf of NewAley Pictures, Summerhawk Films, and Reckless Productions.The film will open theatrically in Los Angeles in early January, followed by a DVD & VOD release in the first quarter of 2019.

Alda will be presented the performers union's top accolade at the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®, which will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at 8 p.m. (ET)/ 5 p.m. (PT).

Final casting for Berkeley Repertory Theatre's upcoming production of Fairview was announced today. Written by Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed bySarah Benson, with choreography by Raja Feather Kelly, the world premiere production comes straight to Berkeley Rep from a critically acclaimed New York run. Previews begin on Thursday, October 4 with regular run of the show opening on Thursday, October 11 and continuing through Sunday, November 4. Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, BURN THIS will begin performances in March 2019 at a Broadway theater to be announced.

Casting is now complete for the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of Annie. The new cast members are Roger Bart as Daniel 'Rooster' Hannigan, Kaylin Hedges as Annie, Ali Stroker as 'Star-to-Be,' Amir Talai as Bert Healy, Marlow Barkley as Kate, Amadi Chapata as Pepper, Noe Lynds as July, Rae Martinez as Tessie, Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja as Molly, and Olivia Zenetzis as Duffy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Greta Gerwig will direct the feature adaptation of the Mary Louise Alcott classic Little Women for Sony's Columbia label. Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet are in talks to star, along with Meryl Streep, Emma Stone and Florence Pugh.

Lola Kirke announced her debut full-length Heart Head West today; Downtown Recordswill release the album on August 10. The New Group celebrated Opening Night of Lily Thorne's Peace for Mary Frances last night, with Heather Burns, Johanna Day, Natalie Gold, Mia Katigbak, Paul Lazar, Brian Miskell, Melle Powers, Lois Smith and J. Smith-Cameron, in a world premiere production directed by Lila Neugebauer.
