BWW Review: PORGY AND BESS, London Coliseum

After a disappointing start to the new season with the bizarre Salome, the ENO fights back with a towering production of the Gershwin brothers' Porgy and Bess. After nearly 80 years since its premiere, the folk opera receives its first staging by the ENO as a co-production with the Dutch National Opera and New York's Metropolitan Opera. And boy does it deliver!

MasterVoices Announces 2018-19 Season

Ted Sperling, Artistic Director of MasterVoices, announced details of the acclaimed ensemble's 77th season, celebrating the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941. The upcoming season will be framed by two major musical events, the New York premiere of a multi-media version of Handel's oratorioIsrael in Egypt performed at Carnegie Hall, and a new adaptation of the Kurt Weill-Ira Gershwin-Moss Hart avant-garde musical, Lady in the Dark, starring Victoria Clark at New York City Center. Lady in the Dark has not been seen in New York since it was presented at New York City Center in 1994 as part of the inaugural Encores! season.

Cincinnati Opera Announces Lineup for 2019 Season

Cincinnati Opera, today announced the repertoire and casting for Cincinnati Opera's 2019 Summer Festival, which will run from June 13 to July 28. The company's 99th season begins with a charming production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro in Music Hall's Springer Auditorium.

Young People's Chorus Of New York City Celebrates 30th Anniversary Summer

This summer, the Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC), led by Founder and Artistic Director Francisco J. Nuñez, continues its 30th anniversary celebration with performances in seventeen cities spanning three countries. YPC's summer launched on Sunday, June 24, when the chorus was joined at Carnegie Hall by young singers from around the world. Additional summer performances include a free concert at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem, YPC's return to the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, and tours to Canada and Japan.

The GRAMMY Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra celebrates the legacy of the late Robert Shaw, who would have turned 100 on April 30, 2016, with a special Centennial Celebration. Shaw served as Music Director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for 21 years (1967-1988), serving as a prominent leader in the Orchestra's success and history. In 1967, Shaw joined the Orchestra, presenting ambitious and difficult concerts, and introducing Atlanta to a wide range of classical music. One of Shaw's greatest legacies is the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and its 200 all-volunteer members, who delight audiences to this day.
