TCG Books to Publish Nikolai Gogol's THE INSPECTOR

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce the publication of The Inspector, a comedy in five acts by Nikolai Gogol, translated from the Russian by Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. This essential edition marks the first in a series of major works of Russian drama, translated by Nelson, Pevear and Volokhonsky, that TCG will publish over the coming years.

Plays & Players and Power Street to Present Readings of NOGALAR, TO CATCH THE LIGHTNING and DARK MATTERS, June 2014

Plays & Players continues its collaboration with Power Street Theater Company with follow-up readings of El Nogalar by Tanya Saracho, Dark Matters by Oliver Mayer and To Catch the Lightning by Carmen Rivera. These three plays, representing 30/30/2, 30/30/3 and 30/30/4, were selected from a group of finalists chosen during the 30/30/1 full day event held with local theater and Latino community leaders in March, as part of a nation-wide event. The readings hope to serve as a further contribution to the already-growing conversation about the Latina/o voice and identity in the Philadelphia theater community.

Rubicon Hosts HOLIDAY CENTRAL with 35 Seasonal Shows, Now thru 12/23

Move over Grinch; Santa Claus is coming to town and taking up residence at Rubicon Theatre in Ventura! Rubicon's November/ December HOLIDAY CENTRAL calendar offers a sparkling array of more than 35 shows and events for all ages. The festivities begin with the return of a holiday revue with six Broadway singers and a local children's chorus; followed by a late-night adult comedy presented in a cabaret setting; a poetic reading of wartime love letters; and culminating with an enchanting new musical from the Tony and Olivier Award-winning director of Les Miserables and Nicholas Nickleby and the creators of Jane Eyre and Daddy Long Legs, who will have a five-week residency at Rubicon during the holidays.

Columbia Stages' THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR Begins Tonight

Columbia Stages will present THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, the 2014 MFA Actors' thesis production, an adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's Russian classic by Jeffrey Hatcher, directed by Jesse Berger. THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR will open at 3LD and run from tonight, November 13-16 and 20-23.

Michael Kahn Helms Signature Theatre's PRIDE IN THE FALLS OF AUTREY MILL World Premiere, Beg. Tonight

Signature Theatre has announced the pairing of one of the theatre's most celebrated friends with the upcoming 2013/14 season's newest play. Shakespeare Theatre Company Artistic Director Michael Kahn returns to Signature this fall for the first time in nearly twenty years to direct the world premiere of Pride in the Falls of Autrey Mill, the new play by Paul Downs Colaizzo.

Fratellanza to Present New Show STRING UP THE MOON at PuppetART & Jam Handy in Sept.

After last summer's sold-out show The Mute Quire, Fratellanza creates a new production for September 2013. String Up the Moon looks into the human heart and finds two men wrought by desire. A lowly government clerk lusts up the ladder of the Russian civil service. A brilliant musician murders his friend and idol, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and justifies his act on cosmic grounds. These tales meet to form a theatrical sonata of dreams and madness.

NAATCO to Open 24th Season with AWAKE & SING, 8/16-9/8

The OBIE Award-winning NAATCO, National Asian American Theater Company, will kick off their 24th season with Clifford Odets's Awake & Sing! Stephen Fried directs an all-Asian American cast that includes Sanjit de Silva, Mel Duane Gionson, Andrew Ramcharan Guilarte, Mia Katigbak, Teresa Avia Lim, Jon Norman Schneider, David Shih, Alok Tewari, and Henry Yuk. This Off-Broadway limited engagement will begin August 16th at Walker Space (46 Walker Street) and continue through September 8th only. Opening Night is set for August 21st (8pm).

Tonight, February 22, 2013, the comedy Marriage by Nikolai Gogol will open as the fifth production in the Hilberry Theatre's 50th season. This classic Russian tale of arranged marriages follows a young bachelor through the hesitation many men experience when confronted with the idea of serious commitment. Antics ensue when the young bachelor's best friend takes arranging the marriage into his own hands as the two compete with other eccentric bachelors for the bride's affection.
