Richmond Ballet Brings DON QUIXOTE to Carpenter Theatre This Weekend

Richmond Ballet will welcome one of the world's most popular ballets back to the River City, as Nicolas Beriozoff's Don Quixote, presented by Morgan Stanley, is set to run this weekend, February 20th through 22nd at the Carpenter Theatre. It is also with great anticipation that Richmond Ballet prepares to welcome two principal dancers from the National Ballet of China, Wang Ye and Ma Xiaodong who are scheduled to perform the ballet's lead roles. Ms. Wang and Mr. Ma's guest artist appearance in Richmond is the first stop in the Ballet's year-long Road to China cultural exchange program that will carry the company through to a tour of China in May of this year. CARMINA BURANA, DON QUIXOTE, THE NUTCRACKER and More Set for Richmond Ballet's 2014-15 Season

Richmond Ballet is pleased to announce the line-up for the 2014-15 season, a season that will include a three-production residency at the Carpenter Theatre beginning in late October, as well as a three-part Studio Series that will once again open the season beginning in September. The 2014-15 season will feature the return of one of the most popular pieces from the Ballet's repertory in Carmina Burana, John Butler's impassioned masterwork, set to Carl Orff's musical triumph of the same name. Nicolas Beriozoff's Don Quixote, a thrilling full-length ballet alive with flair and some of the best music ever written for ballet in the memorable score of Ludwig Minkus, is also set to return to the Carpenter Theatre stage this season. The holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, will once again be part of the Ballet's much anticipated Carpenter Theatre residency. (more...)

National Ballet of China Dancers Arrive in Richmond 2/9

Richmond Ballet has the great pleasure to announce that the company's honored guest artists from the National Ballet of China, principal dancers Wang Ye and Ma Xiaodong, are scheduled to arrive in Richmond on February 9, and will begin rehearsals for their leading roles in Nicolas Beriozoff's Don Quixote with the Richmond Ballet professional company on February 10. Don Quixote, presented by Morgan Stanley, is set to run for three performances, February 20-22, at the Carpenter Theatre. Ms. Wang's and Mr. Ma's guest artist appearance serves as an important step in the Ballet's yearlong Road to China cultural exchange program. (more...)
