The Providence return of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Thursday, February 3 at 7:30PM at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) for a limited engagement of three weeks through Sunday, February 20.

Casting has been announced for the Providence engagement of Disney's THE LION KING. Providence's most eagerly awaited stage production ever will leap onto the PPAC stage from Tuesday, February 1 to Sunday, February 20. The press opening night is Thursday, February 3 at 7:30 PM.

Disney's THE LION KING will close at DPAC stage January 30, 2011.

Disney's The Lion King, playing at the Durham Performing Arts Center through January 30, is theatrical storytelling at its most spectacular. Take a familiar father/son story that borrows heavily from Shakespeare, the Greeks, and the Bible. Add incredible, near unimaginable, artistry - puppets, masks, glorious costumes and scenery. Mix in a heavy dose of humor and catchy, familiar music. Filipino-American Broadway star Adam Jacobs ('Les Miserables', 'Mamma Mia') is currently essaying the coveted role of Simba in Disney Theatrical Productions' North American touring production of ground-breaking, multi-award winning musical 'The Lion King'. The show plays the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago, IL until Saturday, November 27, 2010. Upcoming tour engagements will include Durham, NC January 4 to 30, 2011; Providence, RI February 1 to 20, 2011; Schenectady, NY February 22 to March 20, 2011; Rochester, NY March 22 to April 17, 2011; Toronto, ON Canada April 19 to May 22, 2011; Dayton, OH June 14 to July 10, 2011; and Montreal, QC Canada August 9 to September 4, 2011.

The Vancouver premiere of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Thursday, July 15 at 7:30pm at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, August 8. In Vancouver, THE LION KING plays Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, Sunday evening 6:30pm, Saturday matinees at 2pm, Sunday matinees at 1pm with an additional matinee performance on Wednesday, August 4 at 2pm. There will be no 6:30pm performance on Sunday, August 8.

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-wining Mint Theater Company (Jonathan Bank, Artistic Director) continues the 2008-2009 season with The Widowing Of Mrs. Holroyd by D.H. Lawrence opening March 1st. Today Mint announced it would extend the production through April 5th. Five years ago Mint Theater introduced New York audiences to D. H. Lawrence - the playwright - with their highly acclaimed production of The Daughter-in-Law, which was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival and named one of the highlights of 2003 by The New York Times.
