Kids/Teens Workshops Set for The Drawing Center in May

On view in The Lab, the exhibition features student artwork from the Drawing Connections program, which pairs practicing artists with teachers in Lower Manhattan public schools to develop projects that relate classroom curricula to exhibitions at The Drawing Center.

THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN to Run 5/22-6/14 at Chenango River Theatre

79 year-old Alexandra has pretty much had it with her kids - well, at least two of them.  She's a feisty artist, willing to make a stand and she's rigged her second story brownstone in Brooklyn with homemade Molotov cocktails to try and force her kids to recognize that she's still capable of living on her own.  She'd rather blow up the whole block than move into some kind of "assisted living facility".

Playwrights Horizons Now Accepting Lottery Entries to THE QUALMS' First Preview

Playwrights Horizons is now accepting entries for its popular LIVEforFIVE online lottery for up to two $5 tickets each to the New York premiere of THE QUALMS, a new play by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park and The Pain and the Itch at PH, Domesticated).  Directed by Tony and Obie Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Clybourne Park and Completeness at PH; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; this season's A Delicate Balance and The Heidi Chronicles), the play is the final production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season.

American Museum of Natural History to Celebrate BIG CATS with Special Event, 5/23

WHAT The Museum's celebration Spotlight Asia: Big Cats will be a family-friendly day of live theater, musical performances, and hands-on activities featuring big cats and their role in cultures throughout Asia.  Across Asia, big cats hold tremendous cultural significance. They represent a unique intersection between nature and culture, and between tradition and contemporary practice. The five members of the genus Panthera are the: tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard, and snow leopard.

O BRAZIL Series Returns to Moving Image This Spring

The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' Resident Dance Company, today announced the launch of a new partnership with Loyola Marymount University (LMU). The partnership with the Los Angeles based university marks the first of its kind, adding to the Company's existing collegiate education programs. An all-new THEATER TALK welcomes back show favorite and leading lady Helen Mirren, currently starring on Broadway as Queen Elizabeth II in Peter Morgan's new play The Audience – now rivaling big musicals for its more-than-million-dollar weekly grosses at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. DANCENOWNYC kicks off its 20th anniversary season with the world premiere of NEWYORKnewyork@AstorPlace, a new dance-theater work by Obie and Bessie Award-winning choreographer Mark Dendy. PSYCHO, ROSEMARY'S BABY and More Set for 'Horror Mother's Day' at Moving Image

Celebrate Mother's Day against the grain with a triple-feature of maternal-themed horror movies on the big screen at Museum of the Moving Image. On Sunday, May 10, as part of Horror Mother's Day, the Museum will show Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, starring Anthony Perkins as the ultimate momma's boy; Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby, with Mia Farrow as an Upper West Side mother-to-be caught up in a sinister cult; and David Cronenberg's The Brood (in a new 35mm print), a terrifying psychological thriller driven by a mother's rage.

CORRESPONDENCE Opens Today at Westbeth Gallery

CORRESPONDENCE presents works by forty visual and performing artists inspired by letters and postcards written to Steve Clorfeine, the creator and curator of the exhibition, over a period of fifty years. The exhibition will be on view at the Westbeth Gallery from today, May 2 through 17, 2015.

Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN Heads to the Kirk Douglas Theatre This Year
