BRIC Announces Artists Selected for Summer Residency Program

BRIC, the leading provider of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, announces the eight recipients of the annual BRICworkspace visual artistresidency program for the summer of 2017. BRIC was able to double the number of artists in residence this summer, from four to eight, due to a new donation of space at 505 State Street in Downtown Brooklyn, courtesy of Alloy Development. The summer 2017 awardees will be an all-female roster, including Nicole Awai Esperanza Cortes, Lucia Cuba, Phoebe Grip, Katya Grokhovsky, Katherine Toukhy, Jamie Warren and Monika Weiss. The residency program is now in its fourth year and is open to artists who live, work, or were born in Brooklyn.

2017 Hudson River Dance Festival to Showcase Breathtaking Artists on the Hudson Waterfront

Hudson River Park, one of the nation's longest waterfront parks and an urban oasis for New Yorkers and visitors from all over the world, will be the backdrop for a visually and culturally breathtaking dance program featuring the crème de la crème of contemporary and modern dance at the third annual Hudson River Dance Festival, taking place at Pier 63 inHudson River Park.

2017 American Theatre Master Makes His Visit on the Road Less Traveled

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) is excited to announce its newest member to its National Advisory Board, Pulitzer Prize-winning Playwright, Donald Margulies.  On Saturday May 6, the company welcomed its 2017 American Theatre Master, Donald Margulies, on the road less traveled.  The day began with a Q&A session with Mr. Margulies, moderated by RLTP Literary Director Jon Elston at the Road Less Traveled Theater. That evening, Mr. Margulies was guest of honor during a sold-out performance of The Country House.

Bridge Street Theatre presents PERFORMATHON: A Special Weekend Fundraiser, 5/27- 28.

Do you (or anyone you know) have a talent you want to share with the world? This Memorial Day weekend, Catskill's Bridge Street Theatre will give you a chance to strut your stuff, whatever it may be, when they present a Performathon Fundraiser in their beautiful new Mainstage auditorium. Want to haul out that old accordion or maybe see your child perform her magic act on the stage of a professional theatre? Or perhaps you'll hear your neighbor play ukulele, sponsor your plumber to come and tap dance, or enjoy your friend from work reciting his Shakespeare sonnet or performing that song from Les Mis. Now's your chance!  The organization's first-ever Performathon is the culminating event of the theatre's push to raise $35,000 for its Capital Campaign. All proceeds go toward the Campaign and all donations are tax deductible.

Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane Company present PLAY AND PLAY at UC San Diego

Two-time Tony Award-winning choreographer and National Medal of Arts winner Bill T. Jones brings his innovative contemporary company to UC San Diego's ArtPower for Play and Play: An Evening of Movement and Music for one performance only, Thursday, May 25, 8 pm. Accompanied by a live score, Jones' extraordinary choreography highlights the joy of musicians and dancers working together. The New York Times has raved about Jones' work, 'rarely has one seen a dance company throw itself onto the stage with such kinetic exaltation.' Fringe Announces Comedy Headliner: JOHN MULANEY

On the heels of May 2nd's announcement that France's Plasticiens Volants will bring its U.S Premiere tour to this year's Friday and Saturday on the Fringe, the 2017 KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival (Thursday, September 14 - Saturday, September 23) announces comedy headliner John Mulaney on Friday, September 22 show at 7 p.m. at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.

River To River Festival Kicks Off Next Month in NYC

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) presents the 16th annual River To River Festival, Downtown New York City's completely free summer arts festival, June 14-25. The 2017 edition presents an array of performances and events exploring and celebrating diversity in all its forms-often blurring the lines between genres including dance, music, theater and the visual arts-over the course of 100+ performances and events spanning 17 projects at 31 unique sites across Lower Manhattan and Governors Island. The Festival also offers opportunities for audiences to interact with artists, socialize and experience multiple facets of artists' work and the creative process.

THE RECEPTION by Sean Donovan & Sebastián Calderón Bentin Comes to HERE 6/14-24

HERE proudly presents the world premiere of The Reception, a HERE Resident Artist Production, as part of its 2016-2017 producing season.  Created by Sean Donovan and Sebastian Calderon Bentin (Donovan & Calderon) in collaboration with the company, and co-directed by Sebastian Calderon Bentin and Sean Donovan, this new dance theater work is performed by Jane Comfort, Leslie Cuyjet, Sean Donovan, Hannah Heller and Ishmael Houston Jones. The Reception will have 10 performances, June 14 - 24, at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street).

Bankra Caribbean Folk Festival to Return to Queens This June

The music, culture and cuisine of the Caribbean Islands will be on colorful display once again when Braata Productions in association with Sam's Caribbean Marketplace presents the 2017 Bankra Caribbean Folk Festival on Saturday June 3 beginning at 12 noon.
