Bridge Street Theatre presents THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON THE MAN IN THE MOON MARIGOLDS

A mother's bitterness colors the lives of her two high school-aged daughters in Paul Zindel's 1971 Pulitzer Prize-winning 'The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds', coming to Catskill's Bridge Street Theatre for eight performances July 6-16. Called 'the most compelling work of its kind since Tennessee Williams' 'The Glass Menagerie', this poignant and lyrical drama will be performed by a cast of five brilliant female actors, led by Bridge Street favorite Roxanne Fay ('Home Fires Burning', 'Dream Child', 'Upon This Rock') in the role of Beatrice Hunsdorfer.

BRIC presents Inaugural ArtFP Award to Juan Miguel Marin and UNDER THE INFLUENCE

BRIC, the leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, is pleased to announce that Brooklyn-based Ecuadorian artist Juan Miguel Marin is the first of 15 recipients to receive BRIC's inaugural ArtFP commissioning award for the 2017-18 season. The new ArtFP open call supports the creation and presentation of immersive installations by Brooklyn- and New York City-based visual artists to be exhibited in spaces throughout BRIC House, BRIC's arts and media complex in Downtown Brooklyn. Marin's work, part of his ongoing installation and performance series Under The Influence, will be on view in the main Hallway at BRIC House beginning Friday, June 30 through Saturday, October 22, 2017. Marin, who will use self-recorded Brooklyn soundscapes to guide his painting, will engage guests in the creation of the mural during installation on June 21 and 22, and at the opening reception for Under The Influence, Thursday, June 29, 7-9pm.

Kyle Abraham's DEAREST HOME Gets NYC Premiere 6/28

LUMBERYARD Contemporary Performing Arts will conclude its second annual LUMBERYARD in the City festival with the New York premiere ofDearest Home, a new work from 2013 MacArthur "Genius" Award-winner Kyle Abraham and his company Abraham.In.Motion, June 28 - July 2. An interactive dance work developed over multiple years, through conversations with people from a variety of age groups and subcultures, Dearest Home focuses on love, longing and loss, and explores the different ways we experience and talk about them.

NEA Confirms It Did Not Fund The Public's Trump-Themed JULIUS CAESAR

Following news that two major sponsors, Delta Air Lines and Bank of America, had pulled financial support for The Public Theater in response to their Donald Trump-themed Shakespeare in the Park production of JULIUS CAESAR, the National Endowment for the Arts has clarified in a statement that none of its funds have been used to support the show.

2017 Battery Dance Festival Announced for August

Battery Dance, in association with Battery Park City Authority, announces the 36th Annual Battery Dance Festival, with free performances on August 13-18, 2017, from 7pm to 9pm against the breathtaking backdrop of the New York Harbor at Robert F. TFANA Presents Simon Godwin's New Staging of MEASURE FOR MEASURE

Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA; Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director) is pleased to announce casting for British director Simon Godwin's new staging of Measure for Measure, William Shakespeare's dark comedy about justice, faith, power, sex, and family. The production, which marks Godwin's first time directing Shakespeare for an American company, runs June 17 - July 16 at Polonsky Shakespeare Center (262 Ashland Place) in the Brooklyn Cultural District.

Kitchen Theatre Company Raises Over $190,000 to 'Burn the Mortgage'

Kitchen Theatre Company's Board of Directors honored retiring Artistic Director Rachel Lampert with an appropriately theatrical ceremony in which the building's mortgage was 'burned.' In attendance were community members and representatives of organizations who donated to the over $190,000 Burn the Mortgage campaign.

Daniel Beaty and More Set for Brooklyn Center's 2017-18 Season at Kumble Theater at LIU

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College has announced a series of seven performances at the Kumble Theater at LIU Brooklyn as part of its 2017-18 season. Brooklyn Center will announce additional performances in the fall in conjunction with the opening of the new Leonard and Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College.

TDF to Offer First Autism-Friendly Performance of Broadway's CATS

TDF's Autism Theatre Initiative (ATI), which presents autism-friendly performances of Broadway shows for an audience of families with children and adults on the autism spectrum, launches its seventh season with the first-ever autism-friendly performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical, Cats.

Theatreworks USA to Present Free Limited Off-Broadway Engagement of PETE THE CAT at the Lucille Lortel Theatre

This summer, Theatreworks USA, the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for young audiences, will present the Off-Broadway Premiere of the new musical PETE THE CAT. It will begin performances on July 19 and run through August 18, with its benefit opening on July 25 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets).

Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival presents JESSICA LANG DANCE and FAYE DRISCOLL

“A prolific choreographer of skillfully constructed dances that respectfully mesh with music and striking visual design” (The New Yorker), Jessica Lang and her company return to Jacob's Pillow for the ensemble's first Ted Shawn Theatre engagement, July 5-9. In addition to a Pillow-commissioned world premiere work, the program includes Lang's Thousand Yard Stare, a dance embodying the incredible pride and honor as well as the searing loss experienced by military veterans. The program will also include the East Coast and company premiere of Lang's Lyric Pieces as well as Solo Bach, Sweet Silent Thought, and The Calling. This season, the Pillow has formed a partnership with the Tanglewood Music Center, whereby Tanglewood Fellows and alumni will be providing the music accompaniment for this engagement.

Kathryn Posin To Create World Premiere For Milwaukee Ballet II

KATHRYN POSIN will create a world premiere for Milwaukee Ballet II Program during the 2017-18 season. The ballet will receive its premiere as part of the MOMENTUM Series on February 10, 2018 at the historic Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

3,500 NYC Public School Children To Attend American Ballet Theatre's Young People's Ballet Workshop

On Tuesday, June 6, over 3,500 New York City Public School children will attend American Ballet Theatre's Young People's Ballet Workshop at the Metropolitan Opera House at 11:00A.M. Hosted by ABT Studio Company Artistic Director Kate Lydon, the program will include original pieces by students participating in ABT's Make a Ballet program, as well as excerpts from ABT's Spring Season repertoire performed by Company dancers.

The Joyce Presents the Return of the Biennial BALLET FESTIVAL

Following successful, sold-out ballet festivals in 2013 and 2015, The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is thrilled to once again present a two-week festival of ballet showcasing some of America's most exciting contemporary companies and choreographers with Joyce commissions on each program.
