WOOF WOOF to Open 6/8 at Asylum Lab Theatre

Sewer Socialist Productions will present the world premiere of Paul Hoan Zeidler's Woof-Woof, a searing, brutal and redemptive drama about the love of violence and the joy of killing. What would you do if a childhood friend you hadn't seen in 8 years suddenly showed up at your door ... if you knew he'd joined the Army and been sent to Iraq? Starring Jay Seals, Brett Donaldson and Devin Skrade. The Press Opening will be June 8th at 6:00PM at The Asylum Lab Theatre, as part of the Hollywood Fringe 2014. Regular tickets are $10.00.

Tony Glazer, John Pollono, Robin Rothstein and Mark Jason Williams to Join Talents for WHY BOTHER? at Planet Connections, 5/14-6/1

This summer, an award winning quartet of playwrights, Tony Glazer (In The Daylights, Film: Junction), John Pollono (Small Engine Repair, Lost and Found), Robin Rothstein (The Game Boy, On Deaf Ears), and Mark Jason Williams (Straight Faced Lies, Recovery), will join together for a night of one acts entitled Why Bother? directed by Andrew Block. Why Bother? Is being presented by Man Down Productions as part of the Planet Connections Festival. It begins performances on May 14 and runs through June 1 at the Paradise Factory (64 E 4th St).

Balagan Theatre's 2014-15 Season to Feature Gasparini & Brightman's MAKE ME BAD, MURDER BALLAD & More

San Jose Rep to Present Bay Area Premiere of THE BIG MEAL, 5/8-6/1

San Jose Repertory Theatre presents the Bay Area premiere of the critically-acclaimed The Big Meal, by Dan LeFranc, the 2010 New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award Winner. This razor sharp portrait of a modern American family runs May 8 through June 1, and is directed by Kirsten Brandt, San Jose Rep's Associate Artistic Director.

Pop Opera GERTRUDE STEIN SAINTS Returns to NYC at Abrons Arts Center, 6/12-28

After winning two FringeNYC Overall Excellence Awards last summer, Theater Plastique returns to New York with an updated production of its acclaimed pop opera Gertrude Stein SAINTS! Preview performances of this limited engagement begin June 12 at Abrons Arts Center with opening slated for June 17.

THE WOODSMAN Opens Off-Broadway Tonight

Oberon Theatre Ensemble - currently celebrating its 17th season - will present the New York premiere of Steven Fechter's play THE WOODSMAN, directed by Alexander Dinelaris, Jr. (who directed Oberon's critically acclaimed production of 'The Drawer Boy' last season) with performances beginning April 18 prior to an official press opening of April 21 at the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street) in Manhattan.

Aurora Theatre Company Extends WITTENBERG Through 5/11

To be or not to be is no longer the question - critics and audiences agree that WITTENBERG is a hit. Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will add an additional 7 performances of the Bay Area Premiere of WITTENBERG, David Davalos' audacious comedy about reason versus faith. Josh Costello (San Francisco Playhouse, Marin Theatre Company, Impact Theatre) directs this smarty-pants celebration of history, language, academia, and religion, featuring Dan Hiatt (The Arsonists), Elizabeth Carter (Trouble in Mind), Jeremy Kahn, and Michael Stevenson. WITTENBERG plays now through May 11 (added performances: Tuesday, May 6, 7pm; Wednesday, May 7, 8pm; Thursday, May 8, 8pm; Friday, May 9, 8pm; Saturday, May 10, 8pm; Sunday, May 11, 2pm and 7pm) at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. BWW Review: OUR LADY: Savior in Kinky Boots

Solo performance piece written and performed by James Fluhr (Boston University CFA '11), OUR LADY was created as a response to hate and homophobia, as well as to reveal the author's own coming out story. It is a moving, riveting mixed media theatrical event playing as part of the Next Rep Black Box Festival at New Repertory Theatre.

Ari Graynor, Jerry O'Connell & More to Lead Bess Wohl's AMERICAN HERO at Second Stage Theatre; Performances Begin 5/12

Second Stage Theatre kicks off the 2014 Uptown Series with the New York premiere of AMERICAN HERO, written by Bess Wohl and directed by Leigh Silverman. AMERICAN HERO will feature ARI GRAYNOR (2ST Trust), DAOUD HEIDAMI (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), JERRY O'CONNELL (Seminar) and ERIN WILHELMI (The Great God Pan). Previews begin Monday, May 12th and opening night is Thursday, May 22nd.

General Mischief Dance Theatre to Present RASCALS WITH ALTITUDE, 4/25-54

General Mischief Dance Theatre presents its spring performance, Rascals with Altitude. Performances will take place from April 25 - May 4 at The Connelly Theatre, 220 East 4th Street, NYC. The Farm Theater Announces 2014 Training Camp

The Farm Theater announces Training Camp 2014, a program that focuses on the development of pre-professional and early career theater artists. Training Camp will be held at Elmira College on August 4 through August 10. The Farm is seeking a diverse ensemble of sixteen theater artists to participate in this weeklong intensive, which will include classes in acting, writing, ensemble collaboration, and directing.

Strawdog Theatre Company to Present CHARLES IVE TAKE ME HOME, 5/9-6/21

Strawdog Theatre Company and Interim Artistic Director Hank Boland are proud to announce the final production to their 2013 - 2014 season, Jessica Dickey's Charles Ives Take Me Home, May 9 - June 21, direction by Keira Fromm with music direction by Strawdog Theatre Company Member Mike Przygoda and original music composition by Christopher Kriz, at Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N. Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances Friday, May 9, Saturday May 10, Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 18 at 4 p.m. There is a Board Preview performance, Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m., with $50 tickets that include access to a post-performance reception. Chicago Commercial Collective to Remount 5 LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE with Original Off-Broadway Cast, 5/1-6/8

The hilarious send-up of 1950s cold war repression and kitsch culture, "5 Lesbians Eating Quiche" was an original critically-acclaimed creation by The New Colony. This remount featuring the original off-Broadway cast is presented by the Chicago Commercial Collective, running May 1 to June 8 at the Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division Street. Tickets ($15 - $40) are on sale now.
