Musica Sacra Presents ISRAEL IN EGYPT 2/23

On Wednesday February 23, 2011 at 8 p.m. in Carnegie Hall's Isaac Stern Auditorium, Musica Sacra-heralded by the New York Daily News as "easily the best chorus in this city, if not in the country"- performs Handel's extraordinary biblical oratorio, Israel in Egypt.

NY Philharmonic Announces Details for Weekly Radio Broadcasts

In April 2011 The New York Philharmonic This Week - the two-hour, national, weekly radio program of concerts by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by actor Alec Baldwin - begins with the fourth and final program from Hungarian Echoes: A Philharmonic Festival conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. Mr. Salonen leads Haydn's Symphony No. 8, Le Soir; Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Olli Mustonen as soloist; Ligeti's Clocks and Clouds, featuring the Women of New York Choral Artists, Joseph Flummerfelt, director; and Bartok's Suite from The Miraculous Mandarin. The following week Michael Tilson Thomas conducts Prokofiev's American Overture for Orchestra, Op 42; the New York Premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina's In Tempus Praesens, Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, with Anne-Sophie Mutter, The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence, as soloist; and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 2, Little Russian.

NY Philharmonic To Present HUNGARIAN ECHOES PROGRAM III, 3/18-3/22

Hungarian Echoes: A Philharmonic Festival conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, will take place March 10-26, 2011. Program III, which will be performed Friday and Saturday, March 18-19, 2011, at 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m., will feature Bartok's opera, Bluebeard's Castle, starring mezzo-soprano Michelle De Young, bass Gabor Bretz - making his New York Philharmonic debut - and actress Marthe Keller, who will recite the Bard's Poem at the beginning of the work. The program opens with Ligeti's Concert Romanesc and Haydn's Symphony No. 7, Le Midi.

Alan Gilbert and NY Philharmonic: 2010-11 iTunes Pass To Launch 12/14

The New York Philharmonic will launch Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic: 2010-11 Season, its second series of recordings with Music Director Alan Gilbert, beginning December 14, 2010, as a new iTunes Pass. NY Philharmonic Pays Tribute to Dimitri Mitropoulos Throughout the Month of November

The New York Philharmonic will offer a tribute to Dimitri Mitropoulos, its former Music Director and one of the towering musical figures of the 20th century - with concerts, lectures, film screenings, an archival exhibit, and a special radio program - throughout the month of November 2010, commemorating the 50th anniversary of his death. The tribute is sponsored by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

In the third week of November, The New York Philharmonic This Week - the two-hour, national, weekly radio program of concerts by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by Alec Baldwin - will broadcast the New York Premiere of Kraft, the groundbreaking, theatrical work by Magnus Lindberg, the Philharmonic's Marie-Josee Kravis Composer-in-Residence.
