The Lyric Stage Company of Boston presents WORKING, A MUSICAL, running today, January 3 - February 1, 2014. Press opening, Sunday, January 5, 3pm.

The Nora Theatre Company will present Terry Johnson's Insignificance from January 9 - February 9, 2014. Insignificance is directed by Daniel Gidron. The press performance for Insignificance is Monday, January 13 at 7:30PM.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announces the world premiere of The House that will not Stand, a historical comedic drama commissioned from award-winning poet-playwright and Oakland native Marcus Gardley. Sensuous, witty, heartbreaking, and uplifting - The House that will not Stand unearths a story about free women of color in 1836 New Orleans, where black Creole women entered into common-law marriages with affluent white men. When her wealthy lover mysteriously dies, Beartrice Albans' foundation of security hangs precariously by a thread. She is left to fend for her three unwed daughters in a world where freedom must be carefully negotiated. Told in a rich and lyrical river of words, this new play was developed through The Ground Floor: Berkeley Rep's Center for the Creation and Development of New Work. It's helmed by Patricia McGregor, whose many credits include the celebrated production of Spunk at California Shakespeare Theater. The House that will not Stand begins previews on Berkeley Rep's intimate Thrust Stage on Friday, January 31, opens on Wednesday, February 5 and runs through Sunday, March 16, 2014.

From January 10 - February 8, 2014, SpeakEasy Stage Company will present THE COLOR PURPLE, the acclaimed Broadway musical based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the Warner Bros./Amblin Entertainment motion picture.

Bristol Theatre Arts in collaboration with The Repertory Theatre of New Britain proudly announce The Christmas Schooner, a two act musical with a book by John Reeger and music and lyrics by Julie Shannon. The Christmas Schooner is based on the true story of the Rouse Simmons, a schooner whose captain transported fir trees from Michigan's Upper Peninsula to Chicago's German immigrants from the 1890's to 1912.

Rick Lombardo, Kirsten Brandt and Haddon Kime's stunning new musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's classic coming-of-age fairy tale, The Snow Queen, makes it world premiere now through December 22 with San Jose Repertory Theatre. Broadway performers Jane Pfitsch (SNOW QUEEN), Eryn Murman (GERDA), and Rhett George (TROLL/RIVER/ PRINCE/ REINDEER/SNOWFLAKE) join Tim Homsley (KAI) and a talented company of actors and musicians to bring this new musical to life - proving this isn't your average bedtime story. Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) Artistic Director Vincent Cardinal announced that Matthew J. Pugliese is the theater's new Interim Managing Director. Pugliese is stepping in to fill the role recently vacated by Frank Mack, who served for 10 years as the Managing Director of Connecticut Repertory Theatre. Mack will stay with CRT as Management Associate, and join the Department of Dramatic Arts faculty as Associate Professor of Arts Administration, as he pilots the schools' graduate online certificate in Arts Administration and the new Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration program.

New Repertory Theatre's revival of Lerner and Loewe's 1961 Tony Award-winning musical places the emphasis where it belongs, on the passions of the star-crossed lovers. It evokes an era of youth, hope, and possibility that was embodied in the administration of President John F. Kennedy, whose assassination fifty years ago provides a somber backdrop to the production at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown.
