Theatre Aspen Kicks Off Sunday Series With ALMOST, MAINE 7/5

Theatre Aspen, winner of the 2008-09 Henry Award for 'Outstanding Regional Theatre Company,' is currently presenting THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. Sunday Series begins July 5 with ALMOST, MAINE.

As previously announced, beginning on Monday, July 6th AVENUE Q will welcome back original cast member Ann Harada in the role of 'Christmas Eve.' Also joining the Broadway cast on July 6th, direct from the AVENUE Q U.S. national tour are Robert McClure in the roles of 'Princeton/Rod,' Anika Larsen in the roles of 'Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut,' and Danielle K. Thomas in the role of 'Gary Coleman.' Harada, McClure, Larsen and Thomas will join Christian Anderson, Nicholas Kohn and Jennifer Barnhart to comprise the final Broadway cast of AVENUE Q.

Tony-Winning Best Musical AVENUE Q To Close On Broadway Sept. 13th

fter 6 years on Broadway the Tony Award-winning musical AVENUE Q will play its final performance on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th, 2009. It will have played 2,534 performances and 22 previews, surpassing THE PRODUCERS (on August, 17th), ANNIE, OKLAHOMA!, and PIPPIN, among many others to become the 20th longest running show in Broadway history.

The New Group Presents Ian Bruce's GROUNDSWELL For Limited Run 5/4-6/27

The New Group proudly presents the US premiere of Ian Bruce's thrilling drama Groundswell as the third production in its 2008-2009 season. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production plays a limited Off-Broadway run May 4 - June 27 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street), with Official Opening Night on Monday, May 18 at 8:00 PM.

Photo Flash: 13P's 'Monstrosity' In Rehearsal

13P (Thirteen Playwrights, Inc), the OBIE Award-winning theater company made up of 13 playwrights, will present Lucy Thurber's (P#8) 'MONSTROSITY,' directed by Lear deBessonet. 'MONSTROSITY,' featuring a cast of 21, will be performed at The Connelly Theatre, 220 East 4th Street (between Avenues A and B), with performances running from July 9 through 19, 2009 for a total of twelve performances. (Evening performances will all be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9; Friday, July 10; Saturday, July 11; Sunday, July 12; Tuesday, July 14; Wednesday, July 15; Thursday, July 16; Friday, July 17; and Saturday, July 18. There will be three matinee performances at 1:00 p.m. on: Saturdays, July 11 and 18 and Sunday, July 19 (the final performance of 'MONSTROSITY' will be the matinee on July 19). MEMPHIS To Play At The Shubert Theatre, Will Open On Broadway 10/19

MEMPHIS, an original Broadway musical, will open Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Shubert Theatre (225 W. 44th Street) following critically-acclaimed and sold-out engagements at La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. Previews begin on Wednesday, September 23, 2009.

FELA! Opens 11/23

Fela!, the critically acclaimed musical that had audiences on their feet during its world premiere last summer at Off-Broadway's 37 Arts, will arrive on Broadway this fall where it begins performances at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (230 West 49th Street) on Monday, October 19. The official opening is set for Monday, November 23. This new musical, based on the life of groundbreaking African composer, performer and activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti, is directed and choreographed by Tony® Award-winner Bill T. Jones (Spring Awakening), with a book by Jim Lewis and Bill T. Jones. Sahr Ngaujah will return in the title role for which he received universal acclaim, while the world renowned Antibalas and other members of the NYC Afrobeat community, under the direction of Aaron Johnson, will again perform Kuti?s rousing music live onstage. Winner of this year?s Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical, Fela! was conceived by Bill T. Jones, Jim Lewis and Steve Hendel.

HEART OF THE CITY With Foss, Kerns, Kurtz Begins 6/11 At Theater At 30th Street

Fern Kershon and Orange Thought Productions will present Heart of the City, a new play by Eric Lane, directed by Martha Banta, featuring Eliza Foss, Scott Kerns, Marcia Jean Kurtz, Martin LaPlatney, Melissa Miller and Mark Setlock. Performances will begin Thursday June 11th at the Theatre at 30th Street, for a limited engagement.

Jonny Lee Miller Joins Roundabout's AFTER MISS JULIE, Previews Begin 9/18

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director), in association with Sonia Friedman Productions and Ostar Productions presents Sienna Miller as 'Miss Julie' and Jonny Lee Miller as 'John', both of whom will be making their Broadway debuts, in the American premiere of playwright Patrick Marber's drama After Miss Julie, a version of Strindberg's Miss Julie, directed by Mark Brokaw.

FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS (Parts 1,8 & 9) Plays The Public 6/5-6/28

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) will present the world premiere of FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS (PARTS 1, 8 & 9), the fifth and final play of the 2008-2009 Public LAB season. Written by Public Theater Master Writer Chair Suzan-Lori Parks and directed by Jo Bonney, FATHER COMES HOME FROM THE WARS (PARTS 1, 8, & 9) will begin performances on Friday, June 5 and run through Sunday, June 28.
