It is very difficult for anyone intimately familiar with either the 1975 novel RAGTIME, or its brilliant 1996 musical adaptation of the same name, to believe that the story is 43 and 22 years old, respectively, when watching Axelrod Performing Arts Center's most recent, impactful production. The reason for this sense of disbelief isn't due to the story's familiar themes of uneasy attitudes toward immigration and immigrants, social and economic inequality, or racial tensions but, sadly, that these themes are so painfully timely for today's audiences. The proverbial 'theatrical mirror' is in no way hidden from view as RAGTIME's award-winning and socially aware director/choreographer, Luis Salgado (whom BroadwayWorld.com has called 'one of the young Latinos on Broadway who has dedicated his entire life to both dance and social work'), has brilliantly meshed our chaotic current climate with the palpable past...and effortlessly.

Great comedy, music, theatre, and family entertainment all combine to make the Epstein Theatre the only place to be this March.

Former NASA Astronaut Mike Massimino is back to serve as our tour guide through the universe in the new season of THE PLANETS AND BEYOND, debuting Tuesday, March 20th at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Science Channel. Each of the eight episodes in the second season takes an in-depth look at everything from Neptune & Uranus, to alien planets and the Sun. Massimino, who flew on two space shuttle missions to repair the Hubble Telescope, provides a perspective on the cosmos that only an elite few can match.

On May 4, Belly return with DOVE, their first full length album release in 23 years. The album was recorded and produced and recorded by band member Tom Gormanalongside longtime friend of the group Paul Q. Kolderie (Hole, Throwing Muses, Radiohead). Today, the band shared 'Shiny One,' the first single to be released from the forthcoming album.

Broadway lyricist Lynn Ahrens, a Neptune native who graduated from Neptune High School, is thrilled to learn that a new production of her Tony-winning show "Ragtime, The Musical" is playing four weekends in March at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC) in the Deal Park section of Ocean Township, NJ.

Electrofolk band, Tall Heights release their 2nd single of the year, 'Not Like It Was' (Sony Music Masterworks). Acclaimed singer-songwriter Brett Dennen has released his new EP Let's... featuring the hit single 'Already Gone' which is currently charting #10 in the Top 10 AAA Radio Chart. The EP, released on Downtown Records, includes five brand new tracks produced by celebrated musician, songwriter and producer Dan Wilson, best known for his work with Adele, the Dixie Chicks and Semisonic.

The stage is set for Starbucks 23nd Annual Hot Java Cool Jazz to once again delight Seattle-area jazz fans as the region's top young musicians come together for a special show at the Paramount Theatre. One hundred percent of ticket sales from the night's performance will directly benefit the music programs of the participating schools which this year includes: Ballard High School, Garfield High School, Mount Si High School, Mountlake Terrace High School, and Roosevelt High School. The show will be held on Friday, March 30 at 7:00 p.m. Since its inception in 1995, Starbucks Hot Java Cool Jazz has raised more than $625,000 for participating schools' music programs.   'For the past 23 years, Starbucks has been proud to support local high school jazz bands. For one night a year, we give them the historical Paramount stage to shine on,' said June Ashley, who manages community partnerships for Starbucks. 'This truly is a magical night.'  

Artistic Director, Jeremy Webb, announces a diverse season of love and Canadian theatre

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, continues its season of theater for all audiences with A Little Shakespeare: The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare's high-energy comedy about two sets of identical twins, adapted and directed by Sara Holdren. The production will run March 6-11 on the stage of the Rechnitz Theater, featuring a cast of 14 students from 6 New Jersey high schools: Asbury Park HS, Christian Brothers Academy, Howell HS - FPAC, Neptune HS, Red Bank Regional HS - VPA, and Trinity Hall. A Little Shakespeare is supported by OceanFirst, The Jorgensen Foundation, and Monmouth University.

Eurus, the new EP from acclaimed brother-sister duo The Oh Hellos is out now. The Grand Theatre is thrilled to present on the McManus Stage WHAT A YOUNG WIFE OUGHT TO KNOW, by one of Canada's most celebrated playwrights, Hannah Moscovitch. The production offers a stark but humorous look at love, sex, and fertility of young mothers inspired by letters from the Canadian birth control movement of the early 20th century.
