STG Announces 2017 STG AILEYCAMP

Following a successful inaugural year, STG and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater announce the return of Seattle Theatre Group AileyCamp - in honor of Ailey's long-time Production Director Calvin Hunt from Tacoma - a free, six-week program that combines professional level dance training with personal development courses and activities to enhance the lives of young people throughout Seattle, South King County, and Tacoma. STG AileyCamp, which builds upon the longtime relationship between STG and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, is one of ten AileyCamp sites in the United States and will run from June 28 to August 4, 2017. Campers were selected from applications received from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, ages 11-14, and though enrollment does not require prior dance training, the camp does attract students with an interest in dance, movement and athletics.

Live Ink Theatre is pleased to announce a lively staged reading of "Lillian, Paula. Carson" a play by John Barrow on Wednesday, June 28th, 8 pm, at Amelia Community Theatre's Studio 209. Directed by Ron Kurtz and performed by Fran Hindsley, Sadie LaManna and Sinda Nichols, the play had its' world preview in March at The Morningside Players in NYC. Set in 1953 in Northern Georgia, this inspiring and enlightening drama gives us a unique view inside the hearts and mind of three brilliant women: Lillian Smith, best selling novelist of "Strange Fruit", and a strong opponent of segregation in the South; Paula Snelling, Lillian's long-term companion and co-editor with Lillian of the magazine 'South Today', and CarsonMcCullers, novelist and playwright (The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, The Member of the Wedding).

Coney Island USA's 35th Annual Mermaid Parade will begin at 1 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2017. The parade starts at the corner of West 21st Street and Surf Avenue, and proceeds east on Surf Avenue to West 10th Street, where it turns south to the Boardwalk, and then north back to Steeplechase Plaza, where it concludes.

The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center and AEG Presents announced today that tickets for Rhett & Link's Tour of Mythicality will go on sale Friday, May 19 at 10 a.m. Mythical Entertainment announced today the first ever tour from award-winning comedians and YouTube sensations Rhett & Link, in celebration of the release of their debut book "Rhett & Link's Book of Mythicality." The Tour of Mythicality kicks-off in New York on October 13 and will feature a blend of comedic yet personal storytelling, performances of their hit songs, offbeat life advice, and fan Q&A. The Rhett & Link's Book of Mythicality tour will hit Dallas on Saturday, October 21, 2018 for two shows at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre.
