There is only one place to see the very best comedy in town this year and that place as always is The Epstein Theatre which is delighted to announce a whole host of hilarious new shows!

With a legendary tribute kicking things off, a freestyle duo, a magician and one or two familiar television faces, there really is something for everyone.

Local lad Daniel Taylor stars as the great man himself as The Tommy Cooper Show returns to The Epstein Theatre from Monday 26th June to Saturday 1st July.

Daniel has also recently visited The Epstein with his critically acclaimed portrayal of John Lennon in Lennon Through A Glass Onion and his own production of A Midsummer's Night Dream. His Tommy Cooper depiction promises to be the knockout performance of the year.

Between the story, the gags, the magic and Daniel's incredible portrayal of show business legend Tommy Cooper, this promises to be a very special show. With the blessing of Tommy's estate and his daughter Vicky, this show is not to be missed!

An Audience with Stan Boardman comes to The Epstein Theatre on Saturday 15th July but fear not, if you can't make the date, Stan returns on Friday 29th September for a second round!

From Scottie Road and being bombed out by the Germans during the War, this unscripted show will be unique and entertaining and Stan will document his struggles and successes.

Along with the laughs, for the very first time the show will give a fascinating insight into Stan's life and growing up in Liverpool.

The show will consist of his stand-up routines, archive clips on the big screen including the famous incident from Des O Connor, and an interactive chat with the audience who will be able to pose questions to him.

Our RITA's brings you an amazing all-star night of entertainment on Sunday 17th September; featuring five of the best names in live stand-up.

Already confirmed in this brilliant line-up is; Joe Lycett (Live at the Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Celebrity Juice, Never Mind the Buzzcocks), Gary Delaney (Mock the Week), Kiri Pritchard-McLean (Russell Howard's Stand Up Central), TanyaLee Davis (Live at the Apollo, The Last Leg, The John Bishop Show) and MC Lou Conran (Sarah Millican Tour Support, First Dates)!

Part of this year's Liverpool Comedy Festival it is a night guaranteed to make you roll in the aisles.

The Irish hip-hop comedy freestyle duo Abandoman bring their hit show Life + Rhymes to Liverpool on Wednesday 27th September. Come see the fictional autobiography that entertained over 10,000 people in a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The year is 1993. After destroying rural Ireland's talent show circuit, hip-hop improvisers Abandoman are teetering on the edge of international fame. This is their access-all-areas story: the highs, lows and a cast of characters...that changes every night.

This is your chance to be part of Abandoman's history. Their biggest, most ambitious show ever follows years of touring across the world, and supporting Ed SHeeran on his major UK tour. This is their Life and Rhymes.

Jerry Sadowitz - comedian, magician, and all round scary man is back on Thursday 5th October. Actually he saved petrol and never left!

With his unique combination of comedy, absolute hatred, and card tricks, every moment is guaranteed to cause laughs aplenty. Last week it was something about cutting up eyeballs for baby boxes? This week it could be about the situation in Sandi Toksvig.

One thing's for sure... Whatever he says, it will be ripped off. Except the card tricks. Comedian, Magician, Psychopath! It is strictly over 18's only!

Following a series of critically acclaimed, sold out international tours, Simon Amstell brings his fifth stand up tour to The Epstein on Thursday 2nd November.

Simon Amstell (Carnage, Grandma's House, Never Mind the Buzzcocks) has won two British Comedy Awards, an RTS Award, a Broadcast Award, a Chortle Award and has been nominated for a BAFTA.

Described as 'The real deal' by The Guardian, What Is This? promises to be a deeply personal, funny exploration of beauty, intimacy, freedom, sex and love. There is no age restriction but show is recommended 15+.

Wrapping things up is Jason Byrne in The Man with Three Brains , a brand new show that comes to The Epstein Theatre on Thursday 23rd November.

Jason has three brains which kick into action when he hits the stage. His left brain scans the audience and room, looking for improv moments. His right brain collates stand-up material and stunts, poised to dish out the funnies at speed. His centre brain is Jason's coach, pushing him to the limit.

The fastest thinking comic around will not only trip himself up, but probably you too.

It's been a busy few years for Byrne. In addition to his extensive touring worldwide, his Radio 2 show was awarded the UK radio industry's prestigious Sony Radio Gold Award. As well as fronting a brand new studio based comedy chat show Jason Byrne's Snaptastic Show for TV3 in Ireland, he is co-host of Sky's hugely popular new entertainment programme Wild Things on Sky1.

So, don't delay, book tickets today for these unmissable shows!

Theatre manager, Rebekah Pichilingi, said: "The Epstein Theatre is proud to announce some of the very best and most diverse comics around in its new season. You'll be laughing all the way home after a night at one of these shows!"

The Epstein Theatre (formerly known as The Neptune) was originally opened as Crane's Music Hall in 1911, and was a popular location for recitals and performances. It was renamed Crane Theatre in 1938. In 1967 the theatre was purchased from the Cranes by Liverpool Corporation, who decided that the theatre should be run by local people for local people and was named The Neptune Theatre. The Neptune also became a Comedy Club and after many years of uncertainty about the future of the theatre, it eventually closed in 2005. In July 2011, a £1million refurbishment of the theatre was completed which saw the Hanover Street venue brought up to 21st century standards and renamed 'The Epstein Theatre' in honour of former Beatles manager Brian Epstein, who guided the Fab Four from popular cellar act to global superstardom. The management contract was up for tender and was won by the well-established team behind Liverpool's annual Sound City Music Festival. The Theatre was officially opened on Wed 9th May 2012. Now an independent company Epstein Theatre Ltd, the venue has grown to become of the key venues for arts and live entertainment in the city with a strong programme of comedy, plays, live music and children's productions. The venue can also be hired out for private functions, weddings and conferences.
