Nicholas Sparks' latest romance THE LONGEST RIDE climbed to the top of the New York Times best seller list for the week ending Oct. 6. Last week, the novel claimed the eighth spot. J.D. Robb's latest THANKLESS IN DEATH took second, while Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison's THE FINAL CUT rounded out the top three.

The Great Neck Arts Center held their Gala 2012 at the Historic Oheka Castle last night. In 2013 the Center will be marking it's 20th anniversary in Nassau County. It serves a large population of children, teens and adults from a wide geographic region that includes NYC boroughs and Suffolk County.
Caroline Sorokoff Associate Director of the Great Neck Arts Center has announced that KT Sullivan, United States Congressman Gary Ackerman, author Nelson DeMille and and a local arts philanthropist will be honored at this years Gala which will be held Oct. 24th at the Gold Coast estate Oheka Castle on Long Island, which was commissioned by Otto Kahn.
The Second Annual Gold Coast International Film Festival presented by the Great Neck Arts Center, with the Town of North Hempstead as Founding Sponsor, will present seven days and nights of bold, dynamic films, programs, panels, tributes, conversations, awards and festivities on Long Island's North Shore. GCIFF gets underway Monday, October 22 with two pre-festival events followed by its Opening Night Gala on Wednesday, and then runs at the Clearview Cinemas in the communities of Manhasset, Roslyn, Great Neck and Port Washington through Sunday, October 28, 2012.
