The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Artistic Advisor at Large Renee Fleming today announce the schedule of performances for the 2018-2019 Renee Fleming VOICES series, marking its third season celebrating the power of the voice across a wide range of genres.

The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street, NYC) continues their live music series, 'Inspirations: Women And Their Muses,' with a one night only event featuring Grace McLean & Them Apples, Friday, April 20 in The Loreto Theater. For more than thirty years, Turtle Island Quartet has reinvented the role of the modern string quartet through its Grammy-winning albums and arrangements. This spring, the Quartet honors the impact of legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker with a new album, Bird's Eye View, out February 9, 2018 from Azica. The Quartet will celebrate with a CD release concert at Buck's County Playhouse (70 S. Main Street, New Hope PA 18938) on February 10, 2018 at 8 pm. The genius of Parker's improvisations almost single-handedly catapulted jazz from pop style into art music, indelibly altering the musical landscape of America. FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents: Daryl Glenn and Nellie McKay singing RobertAltman's Popeye.  Together at last, Daryl ('Daryl Glenn & Jo Lynn Burks sing Robert Altman's Nashville',  'Darylsings Steve: Songs by Sondheim') and Nellie (The Threepenny Opera on Broadway, 'A Girl Named Bill: The Life andTimes of Billy Tipton') perform the songs from Robert Altman's notorious 1980 movie musical Popeye. The quirky yet glorious score is by legendary singer/songwriter Harry Nilsson ('Everybody's Talkin') and features the beloved tune,'He Needs Me'.  With musical directors Karen Dryer, Ben McNaboe and very special guest stars Jay Rogers and Lennie Watts it's a fun-filled, joyous evening not to be missed.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) will present Tony nominee SHARON McNIGHT and RUBY RIMS with its 2018 Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 32nd Annual MAC Awards to be held Tuesday, March 27 at 7:00 pm at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City.

Singer-songwriter Nellie McKay will perform on Friday, February 23 at 8PM in the Spotlight Caf at the Capitol Center for the Arts. McKay puts her spin on classics by artists ranging from Steve Miller to Cole Porter and Doris Day to the Beatles and Frank Zappa. Her original songs touch on subjects as far-ranging as her beloved dog to political and environmental issues.
