LCAD Selected by LG as One of the Winners in 'The Art of the Pixel' New Media Competition

Laguna College of Art and Design, LCAD was chosen as one of the top design schools by LG Electronic USA to participate and final in 'The Art of the Pixel: Powered by LG Ultra HD 4K and OLED TV' new-media art competition. LCAD Design and Digital Media program won $25,000 for the most popular votes. Senior student Dohee Yang was chosen as a finalist by Neil Patrick Harris and Digital Artist Mark Tribe at LG's gala event in New York on September 17, 2014. Yang received $5000 for her piece, 'Journey' which was selected from among 300 entries by students at nine of the nation's best art schools.

Due to popular demand, The Public Theater has extended Bridget Everett's critically acclaimed ROCK BOTTOM at Joe's Pub to Thursday, October 16. Created by Bridget Everett, Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman, Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz, and Matt Ray, and directed by Scott Wittman, this shockingly funny and moving new show began performances on September 9 and was originally slated to close on October 11. ROCK BOTTOM was originally commissioned as part of the Joe's Pub 2013 New York Voices series.

A musical valentine celebrating the Golden Age of the American Musical, Character Man will be presented at BSC's St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center from tonight, September 18 through 28. American Theatre Wing's Annual Gala Raises Record-Breaking Amount

The American Theatre Wing announced today that its annual gala, held this past Monday evening at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising over $750,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2013, by more than $50,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Network, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running 'Working in the Theatre' media program.

Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris played his final performance in Broadway's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH last month, in which he was replaced by stage and screen star Andrew Rannells. In a recent interview with Vulture, he opens up about life after Hedwig. He revealed: 'It's so funny - I thought when the show was over that I'd get to sleep in and have my life back, but as it turns out, this week, I'm getting up earlier because I don't get to sleep in to protect my voice. And all the things I haven't been able to schedule because I've been doing the show, now I have to actually do them!'
