The Cadre, an emerging theater company, today announced that Alex Lenderman, renowned Grandmaster chess player, will lead a fundraiser for Art of Attack, the company's upcoming original play about two Russian brothers' addiction to chess. The event will take place on Saturday, August 21st, from 2 PM - 6 PM, at Holley Plaza in Washington Square Park and will give attendees the opportunity to compete against Lenderman for $10 per game. Prizes include tickets to see Art of Attack as well as chess sets and free lessons courtesy of the New York Chess and Game Shop.

The Plum Theatre Company presents David Caudle's SOUTH BEACH RAPTURE as part of the 14th Annual New York International Fringe Festival with remaining performances set for Saturday, August 21 at 11:00pm; Sunday, August 22 at 4:15pm; Monday, August 23 at 3:45pm and Wednesday, August 25 at 7:45pm at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street). American Theater Company (ATC) opens its 26th season with David Mamet's Oleanna and Speed-the-Plow in repertory for the first time ever.
