Newsies, the new American musical, began performances on March 15 at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre for a limited run. Kicking off their limited run (now extended through August 19), the Broadway company of Newsies will make their national television debut on today, March 22nd when they perform "Seize The Day" and "Santa Fe" on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Comedian, talk show host, producer and star Rosie O'Donnell has made no secret of her desire to play 'Miss Hannigan' in the upcoming Broadway revival of ANNIE. Now, an insider has told the Huffington Post that she will indeed be returning to Broadway in the revival. The source told HP: 'Ro loves Broadway and is super excited about playing the part. The paperwork hasn't been signed yet but the negotiations are well under way. This is a great role that she will be able to sink her teeth into and will get her back to acting and performing live, which has always been her first love."
Broadway 4D Theaters, LLC today announced it has entered into a long term lease for the Times Square Theater with The New 42nd Street, Inc., the nonprofit cultural organization responsible for the reinvention of seven of the block's historic theaters including the Times Square Theater, located at 217 West 42nd Street. Plans are underway for a full and classic restoration to return the theater to its historic glory, bringing the last of the original historic Broadway theaters located on 42nd Street back to life. The developers are creating Broadway Sensation - A 4D Musical Spectacular, which includes a 3D film enhanced show with in-theater special effects, to celebrate the Broadway Musical with the latest theater and 4D film technology. The theater is currently scheduled to open in the late spring or early summer of 2013.

The 43rd Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony took place Monday, March 19 at A Noise Within in Pasadena, and was co-hosted by Jason Graae and Lesli Margherita.
THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a new musical based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, will make its Providence premiere Tuesday, March 20 and will run through Sunday, March 25 at the Providence Performing Arts Center as part of the 2011/2012 Broadway Series. Today, multiple outlets reporting on the cancellation of THE ROSIE SHOW on the Oprah Winfrey Network report that when the news was revealed, O'Donnell was in New York, 'taking a meeting for a revival of ANNIE.'
NEWSIES this week grossed $735,991 for 6 performances in its first week out, and also has just announced that the show is extending its run into August. The current house record at the Nederlander is $864,321 set by RENT back in 2008 for 8 performances. So far, those NEWSIES are doing great!

BROADWAY ROX, a new concert event, recently played Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South in Flushing Meadows Corona Park). Produced by Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment, BROADWAY ROX celebrated the rock and pop hits of Broadway including songs from Wicked, Jersey Boys, Rent, The Who's Tommy, Mamma Mia, Spring Awakening, Hair, Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ Superstar and many more. The musical evening featured a 5 piece band with music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Jason Howland (composer of Little Women) and is directed by Rob Evan and Rich Affannato.
