Horse Trade Theater Group Presents THE FIRE THIS TIME FESTIVAL 1/17-30/2011

The African American experience is not represented solely by one voice or one style. THE FIRE THIS TIME FESTIVAL provides a platform for talented early-career playwrights of African-American descent to explore these new voices, styles and challenging new directions for 21st century performing arts, and move beyond common ideas of what is possible in "black theater."

Murin-Led EMMA Begins Previews at The Old Globe 1/15

Jane Austen's Emma - A Musical Romantic Comedy, with book, music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Paul Gordon and direction by Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun, will run in the Old Globe Theatre Jan. 15 - Feb. 27. Preview performances run Jan. 15 - Jan. 22. Opening night is Jan. 23 at 7:00 p.m.

Florida Stage Presents 'Divas Under Glass - A Cabaret For The Senses'

Florida Stage, now in residence at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, is celebrating leading ladies of the theatre with a gala fundraising event. The evening includes cocktails at sunset, followed by a showcase of South Florida's finest musical talent and culinary delights. Dubbed Divas Under Glass: A Cabaret Feast for the Senses, the event will be held at West Palm Beach's new Lake Pavilion, the beautiful glass structure on Flagler Drive's Waterfront Promenade on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, starting at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $300 per person and include cocktails, a dinner 'by the bite' and a dessert buffet. Proceeds will benefit Florida Stage. Dress is 'glamorous casual.' The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will play the following performance schedule: Wednesdays at 7:30PM, Thursdays at 1:30PM & 7:30PM, Fridays at 8:00PM, Saturdays at 1:30PM & 8:00PM and Sundays at 1:30PM & 7:00PM. Single tickets are now on sale and range in price from $25 to $92. Student rush tickets are $25 and are available the day of performance in person with current student ID. Legendary Actress Frances SternhagenTo Be Featured In Horovitz Play and Public Interview

Celebrated actress and two-time Tony Award-winner Frances Sternhagen will be joining the confluence of artists and audiences for Florida Stage's 5th Annual 1st Stage New Works Festival. Ms. Sternhagen will be featured in a staged reading of legendary playwright Israel Horovitz' new play Beverley on Saturday, February 5, 2011. On Friday, February 4, in place of the Festival's usual Keynote speech, Ms. Sternhagen will take part in what is being called 'A Conversation with Frances Sternhagen.' Florida Stage Producing Director Louis Tyrrell will conduct a public interview with Sternhagen on stage in the Persson Hall at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The Florida Stage 1st Stage New Works Festival takes place February 3-6, 2011. 5th Avenue Theatre's Managing Director Announces Her Retirement

Marilynn Sheldon, Managing Director of the 5th Avenue Theatre since 1988, will be stepping down from her position by the end of this year. She will continue to advise the board and management until her current contract expires at the end of 2010.

Performance Network Theatre Presents THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, 11/11-12/26

Performance Network Theatre announces it's production of 'The Drowsy Chaperone' with book by Bob Martin and Don Mckeller and musics and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison. The musical comedy, which recently received the Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score, will run November 11 through December 26, 2010. 'The Drowsy Chaperone' is directed by Carla Milarch (Little Shop of Horrors, The Baker's Wife, The Fantasticks) with Musical Direction by R. MacKenzie Lewis (Little Shop of Horrors, The Baker's Wife) and stars Naz Edwards, Scott Crownover, Phil Powers, Andrea Mellos, Mark Hammell, Matt Anderson, Eva Rosenwald, Linda Rabin Hammell, Brian Thibault, Lisa Lauren Smith, Charlie Sutherland, Pete Podolski and Phill Harmer.

Paper Mill Playhouse Stages Turnaround Season

According to Millburn-Short Hills Patch, after several years of a financial slump, New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse's buget is currently on track for an end of year surplus. During a committee meeting on Tuseday, December 21, managing director Todd Schmidt confirmed that with three shows left for the season, attendance has already reached 87 percent of last year's.

Cast Announced for SPELLING BEE at Paper Mill

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) is proud to announce casting for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Directed by Marc Bruni, with choreography by Wendy Seyb, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will run at the Millburn theatre from January 19 through February 13, 2010.

Fifth Annual '1st Stage New Works Festival'

New plays by celebrated playwrights and longtime Florida Stage collaborators Carter W. Lewis and the legendary Israel Horovitz along with the award-winning Deborah Zoe Laufer and rising-star South Florida playwrights, Christopher Demos Brown and Andrew Rosendorf will all be featured at Florida Stage's fifth annual 1st Stage New Works Festival. It is now a three-day weekend festival, which includes staged readings of seven new American plays, kicking off with a reception on Thursday, February 3, 2011. 1st Stage workshop readings will be presented on Friday, Saturday and Sunday February 4, 5 and 6, along with a keynote address. Previous keynote speakers include John Guare, Israel Horovitz and Pulitzer Prize-winner Marsha Norman. 1st Stage Festival passes are available as well as individual tickets for individual events.

Pearce, Marcus et al. Complete Cast for EMMA at The Old Globe

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for Jane Austen's Emma - A Musical Romantic Comedy.
