Featuring music by eight time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a new book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), Newsies is adapted for the stage from the live-action Disney feature film musical. The production will be directed at Paper Mill by Tony® nominee Jeff Calhoun (The Will Rogers Follies, Grey Gardens).

Celebrated American playwright John Guare will be returning to Florida Stage as the guest speaker at Lee Wolf's Backstage at Theatre Club. The intimate, thought-provoking interview will be conducted by Ms. Wolf, noted literary enthusiast and long-time Florida stage supporter. Mr. Guare last visited Florida Stage in 2007 to present the Keynote Address for the company's inaugural 1st Stage New Works Festival. His appearance for Backstage at Theatre Club will be on February 18, 2011 from 12-3pm at the Phillips Point Club on Flagler Road in West Palm Beach. Lunch is included. Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre has announced the artistic team behind the upcoming world premiere of the musical comedy And the Curtain Rises (formerly known as Wheatley's Folly), which begins performances on Thursday, March 17, 2011. And the Curtain Rises marks the third production presented as part of Signature's groundbreaking American Musical Voices Project, the largest commissioning program for new musicals in the country, following Michael John LaChiusa's Giant in 2009 and Ricky Ian Gordon's Sycamore Trees last year.
