THE OJAI PLAYWRIGHTS CONFERENCE (OPC) is kicking off its 14th annual Summer New Works Festival of playwrights, readings and special performances with two special performance events called 'Intersections'-- the first will feature a special theatrical presentation by Gangland priest Greg Boyle of his national best-selling book of urban parables, Tattoos On The Heart on Tuesday, August 9 at 7:30 pm; the second will feature a reading of a new musical - Black Sun, a collaboration between Stephen Belber and the Counting Crows front-man Adam Duritz - on Thursday, August 11 at 7:30 pm. Both will be held at Matilija Auditorium in Ojai.

THE SAVANNAH DISPUTATION tells the story of two Catholic sisters whose faith is rocked after a visit from a young evangelist. To fight back, the women invite the missionary and their unsuspecting parish priest to a truly devilish dinner party, where they stage a theological showdown in this all-out questioning of faith and belief.

Closing out FST's summer season is an off-Broadway comedy you can believe in. EVan Smith's The Savannah Disputation gets its Florida premiere in FST's Keating Theatre, with performances beginning August 3. The world premiere of The Tenant, which will be performed free of charge at West-Park Presbyterian Church on the northeast corner of 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue (entrance on 86th Street), begins performances Wednesday, August 10 at 8pm, and opens Wednesday, August 24 at 8pm. Conceived and produced by Woodshed Collective (Teddy Bergman, Gabriel Hainer Evansohn, Stephen Squibb, Artistic Directors), The Tenant is written by Bekah Brunstetter, Sarah Burgess, Paul Cohen, Dylan Dawson, Steven Levenson, and Tommy Smith with production dramaturgy by Stephen Squibb. The Tenant is directed by Teddy Bergman and Stephen Brackett and plays through Saturday, September 17.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company will present its 7th annual First Look Repertory of New Work - three developmental productions of new plays presented in repertory playing October 26 - November 20, 2011 in The Steppenwolf Garage, 1624 N. Halsted St. The 2011 festival will also include three free readings by emerging playwrights presented November 3 - 5, 2011.

Naked Angels in association with the Guild Hall will present a one night only benefit staged reading of long-time company member and celebrated playwright Warren Leight's Tony Award-winning play Side Man, starring Zachary Quinto and original Broadway cast members Jeff Binder, Kevin Geer, Michael Mastro, Angelica Torn, and Frank Wood. The reading will take place at Guild Hall in East Hampton, NY on Sunday, August 28 at 7pm. Proceeds will go towards Naked Angels' ongoing development of new work.
