Cast, Creatives Set for NSangou Njikam's World Premiere of SYNCING INK at Alley Theatre

Gregory Boyd, Artistic Director of the Alley Theatre, announces the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Syncing Ink, which begins previews February 3, opens February 8 and runs through March 5 in the Neuhaus Theatre. Syncing Ink, a semi-autobiographical play by NSangou Njikam leads audiences on a mystical, lyrical Hip Hop ride to discover what it really takes to freestyle.

New Jimmy Buffett Musical, Cheryl Strayed Play & More Among Edgerton Foundation New Play Award Recipients

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the recipients of the third round of the 2016 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $669,000, allow 16 productions extra time in the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, helping to extend the life of the play after its first run.

Special Preview of Suzanne Vega and Duncan Sheik's New Musical Added to 2017 Alley All New Festival

The Alley Theatre announces an added Late Night Preview featuring excerpts from the new musical Lover, Beloved: An Evening with Carson McCullers by Suzanne Vega and Duncan Sheik. The special 50-minute presentation is part of the previously announced lineup of readings and workshop performances, all taking place February 2-12 at the Alley All New Festival. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made now at alleytheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at 713-220-5700. All workshop performances and readings are free and open to the public.

Playwrights Festival NOW AFRICA Reveals Full Lineup

In cooperation with the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Center for Art & Public Policy, the Tisch Institute of Performing Arts at NYU, the Institute on the Arts and Civic Dialogue at NYU (Anna Deavere Smith, Founding Director), and Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre, NOW AFRICA - a group of New York based African writers, actors, producers and community activists - will present its second annual playwrights festival, conceived to showcase and raise awareness of dramatic works by African writers.

Alley Theatre to Host First Annual Alley All New Festival in 2016

Artistic Director Gregory Boyd is pleased to announce the first annual Alley All New Festival,  January 28 - February 7, 2016, featuring new plays by Karen Hartman, Boo Killebrew, NSangou Njikam (aka Glenn Gordon) and Lawrence Wright. All presentations are free and open to the public.

Six Black Male Playwrights to Be Featured in The New Black Fest's HANDS UP This Fall

In the spirit of Facing Our Truth, The New Black Fest will commission 6 black male playwrights to write monologues and/or performance essays entitled HANDS UP: 6 playwrights, 6 testaments. The playwrights include Dennis Allen II, Nathan James, Nathan Yungerberg, Eric Holmes, Idris Goodwin, and Glenn NSangou.
