School of American Ballet's 2015 Winter Ball Raises Over $1.39 Million

The School of American Ballet's 2015 Winter Ball took place at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater on Monday, March 9, 2015 and raised more than $1.39 million for scholarships and school programs. Legendary French jeweler, Van Cleef & Arpels sponsored the glamorous, black-tie dinner dance for the eighth consecutive year. The evening began with cocktails at 7pm and dinner at 8pm, followed by a student performance choreographed specially for the occasion, and The Encore dessert and dancing. The proceeds from this event enhance every aspect of the School's extraordinary ballet training program, helping to provide more than $1.9 million annually in student scholarships, as well as supporting faculty, maintaining world-class studios and offering vital student programs beyond the classroom.

Tenor Russell Thomas Leads NY Phil's Verdi Requiem, Conducted by Alan Gilbert, This Weekend

Tenor Russell Thomas will replace Brandon Jovanovich, who has withdrawn due to illness, in the New York Philharmonic performances of the Verdi Requiem, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert. The performances will also feature soprano Angela Meade (in her Philharmonic debut), mezzo-soprano Lilli Paasikivi, bass-baritone Eric Owens, and the New York Choral Artists, directed by Joseph Flummerfelt, this weekend, January 15, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 16 at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, January 17 at 8:00 p.m.

Lisa Mantone Named Vice President of Institutional Advancement of NY Philharmonic

New York Philharmonic President Matthew VanBesien, Chairman Gary W. Parr, and Chairman Designate Oscar S. Schafer today announced the appointment of Lisa Mantone as the Orchestra's Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement, a new position. In addition, Bill Thomas - formerly Senior Vice President - has been promoted to the expanded role of Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO).

ASO Selects Tenor Russell Thomas as 2014-15 Artist-in-Residence

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) today announced a new Artist-In-Residence program, which will begin with this week's "Christmas with the ASO" concerts and continue throughout the remainder of the Orchestra's 2014-15 season. Tenor Russell Thomas -an internationally-recognized vocalist who has performed with the Metropolitan Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, among others- will serve as the ASO's 2014-15 Artist-in-Residence. Mr. Thomas' residency is a one-year appointment that will conclude at the end of the ASO's 2014-15 season and marks the beginning of an annual Artist-In-Residence program at the ASO.

Cleveland Orchestra Welcomes Three New Members

Music Director Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra have announced the appointments of three new Orchestra members: Gareth Thomas joins the Orchestra on January 5, 2015 as second bassoon. Analisé Denise Kukelhan joins the first violin section on January 26, 2015. Corbin Stair joins the Orchestra as second oboe on May 11, 2015.

Russell Thomas to Replace Marco Berti in San Francisco Opera's NORMA, 9/14-30

San Francisco Opera today announced a cast change for the Company's current production of Vincenzo Bellini's Norma. American tenor Russell Thomas will sing the role of Pollione for the remaining five performances of the opera on September 14m, 19, 23, 27 and 30, 2014. Mr. Thomas replaces Italian tenor Marco Berti, who has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons.
