On four weekends in June, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, presents the fifth edition of Jazz on Film. Organized by returning guest curator Peter Lucas, this year's Jazz on Film series includes eight films highlighting jazz soundtracks and legendary musicians.

59E59 Theaters will host the New York City premiere of BENEATH THE GAVEL, an immersive theater experience written and directed by Mara Lieberman. Produced by Bated Breath Theatre Company, BENEATH THE GAVEL begins performances on Wednesday, March 15 for a limited engagement through Sunday, April 9.  Press opening is Tuesday, March 21 at 7:15 PM. 

After it's recent sold out run in San Francisco, the cult hit drag rock musical comedy Above and Beyond the Valley of the Ultra Showgirls returns for a command performance at Oasis, as part of the 16th annual SF Sketchfest.  Written & Directed by D'Arcy Drollinger (Shit & Champagne, Disastrous!, Mr. Irresistible), Ultra Showgirls opens January 26th with a mini-stadium rock spectacular, complete with a five piece live band.

This lyrical play tells a tale of resilience in the face of tragedy when a young man's life is taken and his family is left without answers. Lee's brownsville song (b-side for tray) delivers a message of hope that will challenge and move audiences. Playing October 11-30, 2016. Directed by D. Lynn Meyers.

General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the launch of the first-ever Resident Artists Program for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City to be led by Vinson Cole, UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance faculty member and one of the leading artists of his generation.  The program will begin with auditions in December and will include four singers and one pianist for the initial class of the 2016-17 season.

This grant is used for General Operating Support for the 2015-2016 season, and marks the fifth consecutive year it has been awarded to The REP. The Foundation provides grants only to organizations that have established artistic and administrative track records, as well as a pattern of fiscal responsibility.
