59E59 Theaters to Host Immersive Auction Experience BENEATH THE GAVEL

59E59 Theaters will host the New York City premiere of BENEATH THE GAVEL, an immersive theater experience written and directed by Mara Lieberman. Produced by Bated Breath Theatre Company, BENEATH THE GAVEL begins performances on Wednesday, March 15 for a limited engagement through Sunday, April 9. Press opening is Tuesday, March 21 at 7:15 PM.

After it's recent sold out run in San Francisco, the cult hit drag rock musical comedy Above and Beyond the Valley of the Ultra Showgirls returns for a command performance at Oasis, as part of the 16th annual SF Sketchfest. Written & Directed by D'Arcy Drollinger (Shit & Champagne, Disastrous!, Mr. Irresistible), Ultra Showgirls opens January 26th with a mini-stadium rock spectacular, complete with a five piece live band.

In celebrating the New Year 5776, The Actors' Temple, founded in 1917 and located in a landmark building in the heart of the theater district since 1923, introduces a new initiative ARTS @ AT, to reinforce their historic commitment to serving Jewish theater artists and maintaining a relationship with the surrounding NYC arts community. Sophie Tucker, Red Buttons, Jack Benny and the Three Stooges are among the scores of well-known entertainers who frequented its striking halls. Lyric Opera of KC Launches Resident Artists Program, Led by Vinson Cole

General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the launch of the first-ever Resident Artists Program for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City to be led by Vinson Cole, UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance faculty member and one of the leading artists of his generation. The program will begin with auditions in December and will include four singers and one pianist for the initial class of the 2016-17 season.
Orlando Repertory Theatre Receives Shubert Foundation Grant

Orlando Repertory Theatre (The REP) has announced a $20,000 grant award from the Shubert Foundation. This grant is used for General Operating Support for the 2015-2016 season, and marks the fifth consecutive year it has been awarded to The REP. The Foundation provides grants only to organizations that have established artistic and administrative track records, as well as a pattern of fiscal responsibility.
