The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago opens its 2012-13 season with the U.S. debut of Voices of Strength, two programs featuring four works by five independent African women choreographers. Performances are September 13-15 at The Dance Center, 1306 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago.
Narrated by comedian Jeff Foxworthy, and produced by BBC Worldwide Productions, the five episode, one-hour unscripted series will explore modern gender roles and find out what happens when all of the women leave town, leaving the remaining men to run their households, businesses and community on their own.
On Saturday, July 14, several members of the Congressional Black Caucus came out to see A Streetcar Named Desire on Broadway and caught the stars and producers backstage at the Broadhurst Theater. The Lark Play Development Center announced that Jackie Sibblies Drury will be the inaugural recipient of the Jerome New York Fellowship for 2012-2014.
