The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Andrew Levine, Executive Director) launches its 2013-14 season with a special concert presentation of the musical Six Wives, with Book and Lyrics by Joe Masteroff and Music by Edward Thomas. Directed by David Green, and with Music Direction by Dennis Buck, the five member cast will feature Nick Wyman and Claybourne Elder, with Judy Kaye and Alexander Silber as the six wives, and Alexander Gemignani playing Henry VIII.

Highlights of the fall schedule will be a Developmental Lab presentation of Buddy's Tavern, a 'New2NY' staged concert of Jack: A Musical Drama on the Life of John F. Kennedy, and a one night concert of Six Wives by Joe Masteroff and Edward Thomas.

Opening the seas tonight, September 21, 2013 with a bang is Broadway's Megan Hilty, known to millions as the powerhouse 'Bombshell' on NBC's television program Smash. The season continues October 20, 2013 with Tony nominee Norm Lewis (The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess) and November 10, 2013 with 'America's romantic piano sensation,' multi-platinum selling recording artist Jim Brickman, joined by special guest Broadway heartthrob David Burnham.
It will be a homecoming when the original cast of the York Theatre Company's 2012 revival production of the classic Off-Broadway hit musical Closer Than Ever, with lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire, featuring Jenn Colella,George Dvorsky, Christiane Noll and Sal Viviano, reunite for the official New York release of the new cast recording on the Jay Record Label.
The cast is set to perform selections from the 2-CD recording and will be joined by music director Andrew Gerle and Mr. Shire on Friday, September 20 at Barnes & Noble (150 East 86th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues) beginning at 5:00 p.m. Priority seating will be available with purchase. The institutional fundraising event is set for TONIGHT, August 5 at the Alexandre Gertsman Contemporary Art Gallery (652 Broadway, 2nd Floor, between Bleecker and Bond Streets). Portion of the proceeds collected by the Gertsman Gallery will be donated to The York Theatre Company.
Back in 2010, Baz Luhrmann told us that STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL was to be his return to the stage, and hopefully to Broadway as well. Today that hope has come one step closer to reality with the exciting official launch of the musical in Australia. The show's official Global Premiere will be at the Sydney Lyric from 25 March, 2014, with tickets on Sale 9am Monday 12 August.
