Jay Goede Joins Cast Of LOOPED At Arena Stage 5/29-6/28

As playwright Matthew Lombardo continues to develop the upcoming Arena Stage production of Looped starring four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Tallulah Bankhead, a casting change has taken place. Jay Goede, known for his work on Broadway in Angels in America, A Year with Frog and Toad and Sex and Longing, will now play opposite Harper in the pre-Broadway staging, directed by Rob Ruggiero at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre May 29 through June 28, 2009. Arena Stage in association with Tony Cacciotti and David Steiner presents Looped starring four-time Emmy Award winner Valerie Harper (Rhoda, The Mary Tyler Moore Show) at the Lincoln Theatre. Created by Matthew Lombardo (writer of the hit play Tea at Five) and directed by Rob Ruggiero (director of Arena Stage's Ella) Looped tells the story of original celebrity bad girl Tallulah Bankhead.

The critically acclaimed production of Moisés Kaufman's 33 Variations starring Jane Fonda ended its limited run on, Thursday, May 21st, 2009 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (230 West 49th Street). BroadwayWorld's cameras caught the stars as they left the theatre after the final performance.

Variety is reporting that stage and screen actress Kathy Bates will star in football drama 'The Blind Side' opposite Sandra Bullock with John Lee Hancock directing from his own script. Warner Bros.-based Alcon Entertainment is financing and producing reports the trade paper. Gil Netter's producing along with Alcon co-toppers Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove while Molly Smith, Erwin Stoff and Tim Bourne will exec produce.

Crowns is back in town, and with direction and choreography by Kenneth Lee Roberson (Broadway's Avenue Q, Arena's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill) and musical direction by Grammy nominee e'Marcus Harper, this soulful musical will be bigger than ever in the Lincoln Theatre. Arena favorites Marva Hicks (The Women of Brewster Place) and E. Faye Butler (Dinah Was, Ain't Misbehavin') are joined by NaTasha Yvette Williams (Broadway's The Color Purple), Mary Millben, Kara Tameika Watkins, Phillip Boykin and Zurin Villanueva. Howard University student Villanueva was discovered in Arena's January 'Finding Yolanda' one-day casting search, and this production marks her debut professional performance.
