In October of 2012, when Cleveland Public Theatre first staged, STANDING ON CEREMONY THE GAY MARRIAGE PLAYS, 'same sex marriage was legal in nine states (Connecticut, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont and Washington and the District of Columbia).' At the same time, '30 states had added language to their constitutions banning same-sex marriage.'

The BLUEBARN Theatre will present the regional premiere of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays written by an A-list lineup of writers including Mo Gaffney, Jordan Harrison, Moise?s Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy MacLeod, Jose? Trustus Theatre will start the new year in the Richard and Debbie Cohn Trustus Side Door Theatre on January 3rd at 8:00pm with a collection of topical plays by some of America's most acclaimed playwrights: Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. During its first two seasons, popular web series Old Dogs & New Tricks (a comedic look at gay men at middle-age) cast several high-profile men in special guest roles, including gay Olympian Greg Louganis, soap icon Ian Buchanan, Patrick Bristow (Ellen, Showgirls), Doug Spearman (Noah's Arc) and Thom Bierdz (Young & the Restless).

Trustus Theatre is kicking off its thirtieth anniversary season with Christopher Durang's hilarious "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike," winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play. Trustus Theatre announced their 30th Anniversary season to a standing-room crowd at Tapps Arts Center on June 5th, 2014. Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced two productions for its upcoming 36th season: the first New York production in 23 years of Terrence McNally's acclaimed play, LIPS TOGETHER, TEETH APART, directed by Peter DuBois, and the world premiere of Neil LaBute's dark comedy, THE WAY WE GET BY.

For the sixth year, the Ogunquit Playhouse, America's Foremost Summer Theatre, is joining the fight to eradicate polio worldwide by hosting Rotary Night at the theatre. The Ogunquit Playhouse will donate a portion of every ticket purchased to Grease for tonight's 8:00 p.m. performance to the York Rotary Club. The Playhouse seeks to raise $5,000 to support Rotary International's goal of eliminating worldwide polio.
