Hayes Theatre Co is thrilled to announce the cast of the Australian Premiere of the Olivier Award-winning musical CAROLINE, OR CHANGE. Directed by four time Helpmann Award winner Mitchell Butel, this uplifting and profound musical by Tony Kushner (Angels in America) and Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home, Violet) will play at the Hayes from 23 August. The Helpmann Awards are the premier celebration of Australia's vibrant live performance industry. The Awards recognise distinguished achievement and excellence in Australia's live performance sectors including musicals, contemporary music, comedy, opera and classical music, theatre, ballet, dance and physical theatre, presentations for children and young people, regional touring and cabaret.

The evening was dedicated to the late Frank Ford, the founder of the Cabaret Festival.

Live Performance Australia (LPA) today announced the details of the 2019 Helpmann Awards which, for the very first time in Melbourne, will see the stars of the Australian live theatre and entertainment industry come together for two remarkable nights. Forty-two prestigious Helpmann Awards will be presented at the Victorian home of the performing arts, Arts Centre Melbourne.

After an exhaustive search, State Theatre Company South Australia has announced Mitchell Butel as its new Artistic Director.
