Asolo Repertory Theatre proudly presents the final production of its 2017-18 season: the world premiere of JUNGLE BOOK, a boldly re-imagined family friendly stage adaptation of Nobel Prize-winner Rudyard Kipling's beloved classic. From the creators of Asolo Rep's 2017 hit production of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea, JUNGLE BOOK previews June 6 - 8, opens June 9 and runs through June 24 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts. It is recommended for ages 5 and up and will be presented by Kidoons and WYRD Productions in association with the 20K Collective, produced by Jeff Lord, co-created and co-directed by Craig Francis and Rick Miller.
A gender-bending, English and American Sign Language (ASL) bilingual production of Shakespeare's Hamlet may sound ambitious - but it plays as compellingly human. Maybe you're not familiar with the story. Maybe you've seen it a hundred times. Regardless, Why Not Theatre's PRINCE HAMLET will defy your expectations. Ravi Jain has adapted Shakespeare's most famous play in a way that is relatable and, as the title suggests, focuses more intimately on its protagonist's struggle to understand human nature.
Under Artistic Director Ravi Jain, and Artistic Producers Owais Lightwala and Kelly Read, Why Not Theatre will mark a decade of work with a new production of the company's inaugural show, Ravi Jain's reconstructed Prince Hamlet, and the 4th round of the RISER Project, both at The Theatre Centre this spring.
This summer, Driftwood Theatre-the longest running outdoor touring theatre company in Ontario-celebrates its 20th year with William Shakespeare's masterpiece THE TEMPEST. Scroll down for a first look at the production!
Sex can be a touchy subject, something many people have trouble talking about. The topic can get messier when discussing sex as a profession and, more so, the murky industry of sex tourism in which privileged westerners exploit the egregiously disadvantaged youth of the third world. This is the subject of Soliciting Temptation, the newest play by Governor General's Award winner Erin Shields, a two-hander now having its world premiere at Tarragon Extra Space.
Tarragon Theatre, under the artistic direction of Richard Rose, proudly presents the world premiere of Soliciting Temptation by Governor General Award winner and Tarragon playwright-in-residence Erin Shields. Directed by Tarragon's Assistant Artistic Director Andrea Donaldson, this compelling drama shines a light on the complexities of sex tourism and our preconceptions about love. Starring Soulpepper stalwart Derek Boyes and emerging artist Miriam Fernandes, Soliciting Temptation opens tonight, April 9 and runs to May 4 (with previews from April 1) in Tarragon's Extraspace.
