Sydney's leading festival for cult and underground film, the Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF) is back for another year! From 13th to 16th September SUFF will once again blow Sydney's mind with its most diverse and whacked out line-up to date. The festival will be packed with wild, head-spinning feature films, killer music documentaries, tributes to unsung cinematic heroes and a tonne of unforgettable shorts. Plus, a brand new program of dedicated filmmaking workshops and the inaugural Inhuman Screens conference.

As Cassie struggles to retrace the night, she's forced to confront the sometimes hilarious, sometimes horrific mistakes she's made over the past year. The brand new solo show from writer and performer Kirsty Osmon (winner of the Manchester Evening News Award for Best Newcomer) takes inspiration from real-life stories of women on nights out to question attitudes towards consent and our relationship with alcohol.
Thirteen Independent Feature Film Projects Selected to Attend Sundance Institute Directors & Screenwriters Labs

Thirteen new independent feature projects from the U.S., Cuba, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, and Palestine have been selected for the 2018 Sundance Institute Directors and Screenwriters Labs. At the Directors Lab (May 28-June 21), filmmakers will rehearse, shoot and edit key scenes from their scripts, working closely with industry advisors, actors, and production crews to help drive creative growth via an immersive and hands-on experience at the Sundance Resort in Utah. The Screenwriters Lab from June 23-28 fosters a similar environment of dynamic inspiration as participants focus on the art and craft of screenplay writing with one-on-one support from Institute advisors . Overseen by Feature Film Program Founding Director Michelle Satter and Labs Director Ilyse McKimmie, the Labs begin a year-round continuum of customized support for Fellows, which can include creative mentorship, granting, and guidance from industry professionals.

BAM announces the full lineup for the tenth annual BAMcinemaFest (Jun 20—Jul 1). Described as “filmgoers' most exhilarating annual opportunity for discovery” (The Village Voice), BAMcinemaFest has evolved into a platform for both emerging and established filmmakers as well as unconventional and often overlooked films. A lack of opportunity in rural England impacts strongly on young men and breeds a culture of toxic masculinity, which the production is looking to tackle with a comprehensive engagement programme with a variety of youth groups in Wandsworth and Reading.

Sixteen emerging screenwriters will come together at Sundance Institute's 2018 Screenwriters Lab, an immersive five-day writers' workshop announced today and taking place at the Sundance Resort in Utah, January 12-17, 2018. The Lab brings independent screenwriters together with accomplished writers, in an environment that encourages the art and craft of writing and creative risk-taking. Through one-on-one story sessions with Creative Advisors, Fellows work intensively on their feature film scripts and engage in an artistically rigorous process that offers them indispensable lessons in craft. The Lab is the first step in a year-round CONTINUUM of customized creative and tactical support for each project and team.
