Paper Mill Playhouse Wins Two People's Choice Awards

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Mike Stotts-Managing Director), recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, is pleased to announce it has won two, 2019 Discover Jersey Arts People's Choice Awards.  Paper Mill Playhouse was awarded, "Favorite Large Theater to See a Musical," and "Favorite Choral Group" by the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation. Presented by Discover Jersey Arts, a program of the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation and New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the annual Awards highlight the work of New Jersey's vital and thriving arts community. 

Aya Cash, Carl Lundstedt, and Luke Macfarlane Join World Premiere of REVERBERATION, Now thru 3/15 at Hartford Stage

Aya Cash ('You're the Worst' on FX), Carl Lundstedt (Freaks: a legend about growing up), and Luke Macfarlane ('Brothers and Sisters' on ABC) will star in the world premiere of Reverberation by Matthew Lopez from today, February 19 to March 15 at Hartford Stage. Associate Artistic Director Maxwell Williams (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) will direct.

Tony Winner Darko Tresnjak Helms Hartford Stage's HAMLET, Starring Zach Appelman, Beginning Tonight

For his first directing project since winning the 2014 Tony Award, Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak will helm Shakespeare's masterpiece, Hamlet, playing only four weeks, from tonight, October 16 to November 16, at Hartford Stage. Hamlet follows three popular Shakespearean productions in the last two years by Tresnjak: The Tempest, Twelfth Night, and last season's Macbeth.

Hartford Stage's Tony-Winning Comedy 'VANYA AND SONIA' Begins Tonight

For the final show of the its 50th Anniversary Season, Hartford Stage will present Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike - the most popular play in America this year and the winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play - from today, May 22 to June 15. Maxwell Williams, Hartford Stage Associate Artistic Director, will direct this rollicking comedy by Christopher Durang (Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All to You, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, and Betty's Summer Vacation).

Hartford Stage Receives 2014 EIFLE Award for Children's Education Program of the Year

Hartford Stage has been awarded the 2014 Excellence In Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Award for Children's Education Program of the Year by the Institute for Financial Literacy. The award was given for the Hartford Stage Financial Literacy Program, an adaptation of a Wells Fargo program, which uses theatre techniques to teach the basics of banking and money management. The EIFLE Awards acknowledge innovation, dedication and the commitment of individuals and organizations that support financial literacy education worldwide.

Matthew Lopez's SOMEWHERE Makes East Coast Premiere at Hartford Stage, Now thru 5/4

Matthew Lopez's Somewhere, the captivating, dance-filled saga of a Puerto Rican family in 1959 New York City, springs to life today, April 3 to May 4 in its East Coast Premiere at Hartford Stage. By the author of the critically-acclaimed The Whipping Man, which garnered rave reviews at Hartford Stage in 2012, Somewhere will feature Priscilla Lopez (Morales in the original cast of A Chorus Line) and will be directed by Giovanna Sardelli, with original music by Tony Award winner Bill Sherman and choreography by Greg Graham.

During rehearsals for The Underpants by Steve Martin, Hartford Stage administrators learned of plans for an 'accidental' wardrobe malfunction. Horrified, the administrators noted that Hartford Stage does not condone wardrobe malfunctions of any kind.
