Santa Cruz Shakespeare Hits Fundraising Goal for New Outdoor Home

Santa Cruz Shakespeare has announced that it has completed its fundraising goal of $1.37 million for its new outdoor home in DeLaveaga Park: the Audrey Stanley Grove. The Grove's construction was funded with pledges and one-time donations from over 950 households in the Santa Cruz community and beyond.

Santa Cruz Shakespeare (SCS) is pleased to announce that it surpassed its initial goal of raising $1 million to fund its new outdoor theater: The Grove at DeLaveaga Park. The total revenue raised to date is $1,107,273.41. This includes gifts received, as well as outstanding written pledges, which will be paid by donors over three years.

Santa Cruz Shakespeare is thrilled to announce that on February 9, 2016 the City of Santa Cruz voted to approve its proposed use of Upper DeLaveaga Park as the home for the Festival's summer performances. The agreement with Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department is for a 2-year lease on a site in the park located on Upper DeLaveaga Park Road near the Santa Cruz County Regional 911 Center and the former Cabrillo Stroke Center.

At the Santa Cruz City Council meeting on February 9, 2016 the Council will vote on the proposed use of a site in Upper DeLaveaga Park as the new performance venue for Santa Cruz Shakespeare. Santa Cruz Shakespeare is encouraging members of the community to attend the meeting as a sign of support for the move.
