According to The Hollywood Reporter, the young star has signed on for a recurring role for the show's just-ordered second season. The move reunites him with BEACH co-star Maia Mitchell.
ABC Family today announced the network has green-lit a second season of its hit original drama series, “The Fosters.” The order came as production continues on the first season of the series, which premieres new episodes in January, 2014.
O'Donnell will play Rita Hendricks, a tough yet compassionate woman who works in the foster care system and becomes a mentor to a member of the Foster family. She will appear in three episodes when the series returns in January 2014. Production on the second half of the show's first season will begin in October.
