On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, more than 340 people attended the New York City Mission Society's annual Champions for Children Gala, raising a half million dollars to help youth and families in the city's most underserved communities break the cycle of poverty and achieve success.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, the New York City Mission Society will hold its annual Champions for Children fundraising Gala. This year's event will honor legendary actress and singer Diahann Carroll and entrepreneur Don Peebles, as well as recognize three lifetime members of the Mission Society's Board of Directors. Co-chaired by Jean Shafiroff and Katrina Peebles, the benefit will support the Mission Society's programs and services that help youth and families in our city's most underserved communities break the cycle of poverty and achieve success.

Author and Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff and Martin Shafiroff hosted a reception on Tuesday night to announce the honorees at the New York City Mission Society's annual Champions for Children Gala on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Mandarin Oriental NY. This year's honorees are legendary actress and singer Diahann Carroll, entrepreneur Don Peebles, and three lifetime members of the Mission Society's Board of Directors: actress and philanthropist Dina Merrill Hartley, whose family has supported the Mission Society for four generations; Lloyd W. Brown, II; and, LTC Francis W. Kairson, Jr. (Ret).

Last night's Career Transition For Dancers 31st Anniversary Jubilee at the New York Marriott Marquis? was a great success. The evening honored Joe Lanteri/the New York City Dance Alliance? Foundation, and philanthropists Barbara and Donald Tober for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance. The gala benefit evening raised  $800,000 and was presented by the Lloyd E. Rigler-Lawrence E. Deutsch Foundation and benefits The Actors Fund's CTFD services for the dance community.

ROLEX presented NEW YORK NEW YORK a helluva town -- Career Transition For Dancers' 29th Anniversary Jubilee on Monday, October 6th, 2014 at New York City Center, 131 West 55 Street (btwn. 6th & 7th Aves.), NYC followed by dinner at The Grand Ballroom at The Hilton New York. Angela Lansbury received the 2014 Rolex Dance Award. James Earl Jones, Ms. Lansbury's Driving Miss Daisy co-star, presented her with the award. The 2014 Career Transition For Dancers Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance Awards honorees went to Janice Galli Becker, Fe Saracino Fendi, and Joe Tremaine & Tremaine Dance Conventions & Competitions.
