BWW Reviews: ASSASSINS at SRO is Rousing Ammunition for Thought!
by Bryan-Keyth Wilson - Jul 15, 2015

If you are socially conscious or have some type of social media account, you are well aware of the social injustices that seem to flood the timelines. In this past year, we have witnessed young black men assassinated at the hands of police officers as well as a massacre in Charleston, South Carolina where a deranged racist killed nine parishioners at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Hashtags such as #Handsupdontshoot and #BlackLivesMatter have become the popular catch phrases in the juggernaut of social media. I know you are asking, 'What in the hell does this have to do with ASSASSINS the musical?' This show addresses so much more than the psychopathic motives of the nine assassins; it makes one question the gun control laws of then and now. Going into the theatre, I was excited to see a musical that I love and know very well, but my thoughts changed immediately at curtain call.

BWW Reviews: DEAD SIMPLE, New Alexandra Theatre Birmingham, June 29 2015
by Jenny Antill - Jun 30, 2015

Peter James is synonymous when referring to crime fiction. Following the acclaim received by the stage adaptation of A Perfect Murder last year, Dead Simple is the next novel to receive the same treatment (adapted by Shaun McKenna). The book was an overnight sensation and is now a number one best-seller so it was clearly an obvious choice for the producers. Based on James' research, it seems that the vast majority of people fear fear itself. Breaking this down further, the fear of being alone and in this story's case, being buried alive. This is a seemingly universal fear that James experienced head on when writing this book!

BWW Review: Who is Really the ACCOMPLICE, and What is Going On?
by Shari Barrett - May 31, 2015

Martin Thompson directs Rupert Holmes' intriguing murder mystery ACCOMPLICE at Theater 40 with reverence to actors and what they go through to put on a play as well as to put up with each other. The first act seems like a fairly normal British offering with four characters all seemingly trying to outdo each other to gain control of the two husbands' mutual business by having affairs with each other in every possible combination. A particularly shocking revelation just prior to intermission will have you wondering just who is the accomplice trying to assist the perpetrator in getting away with murder.

BWW Reviews: Group rep Hits the Mark with TIGER BY THE TAIL
by Don Grigware - Mar 9, 2015

One faces an undeniably horrendous situation that will only get worse before it gets better...and the clincher?... it is fueled by love. That's the trap created by Frawley Becker in his play Tiger by the Tail now playing at Group rep in Noho through April 19. The tender theme is made sweeter by smooth direction and a terribly appealing cast. For those who are not afraid to follow their feelings of romance and take the plunge into the realm of the unknown, Tiger by the Tail is most worthwhile.
