The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) will present Eight-time Grammy Award-winning jazz icon HERB ALPERT and his wife, the internationally renowned Grammy Award-winning singer LANI HALL on Sunday, October 12 at 7:00 PM. An Evening with Herb Alpert and Lani Hall will feature songs from their third album together, Steppin' Out, with their band, Michael Shapiro on drums & percussion, Hussain Jiffry on bass and Bill Cantos on keyboards and vocals. The program will include a jazz set sprinkled with Brasilian flavors and songbook favorites such as: 'Puttin' on the Ritz,' 'Moondance,' 'Let's Face the Music & Dance,' 'Fever,' 'La Vie en Rose,' a nostalgic Tijuana Brass medley and many others. Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today the release ofChicago Shakespeare Theater: Suiting the Action to the Word, a collection of original essays that furthers the study of William Shakespeare in performance and stagecraft through the exploration of the Theater's first twenty-five years. Respected scholars, artists and theater critics view Shakespeare through the lens of the theater's artistry, bringing together professional observations and scholarly examinations of CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines's productions as well as collaborations with world-renowned directors who have worked at CST, including Michael Bogdanov(The Winter's Tale - 2003); Edward Hall (Rose Rage: Henry VI, Parts 1, 2, and 3 - 2004) and Josie Rourke (The Taming of the Shrew - 2010).

?The BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop announces its Winter Smoker, a semi-annual showcase for new songs from Workshop writers. The October 2012 installment of NYTB in the D-Lounge features an excerpt from the new musical Academia Nuts called Speaking Geek: The Songs of Academia Nuts, as well as a selection of songs by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson. The monthly series is executive produced by Laura Brandel and Jason Najjoum.
