La Jolla Playhouse and Ping Chong + Co Present Community-Engaged SOUTH OF THE 8

La Jolla Playhouse announces a collaboration with the acclaimed theatre group Ping Chong + Company to develop and present South of The 8, a brand-new, community-engaged piece, created with and performed by a group individuals living in neighborhoods south of the I-8. Scripted by Sara Zatz and Daniela Rivera and directed by Sara Zatz, South of The 8 will have three public presentations on Friday, March 31 at 7:30pm and Saturday, April 1 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm at the City Heights Performance Annex (3795 Fairmount Avenue). La Jolla Playhouse Sets Cast, Creatives for 2017 POP Tour of #SuperShinySara

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its 2017 Performance Outreach Program (POP) Tour production, #SuperShinySara, by Wesley Middleton, and helmed by acclaimed San Diego director and Moxie Theatre Artistic Director Delicia Turner Sonnenberg (Counterweight, Without Walls Festival 2013). The production will tour schools throughout San Diego County, now through March 31, 2017.

Mat Smart's KILL LOCAL to Make World Premiere at La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla Playhouse announces the world premiere of Kill Local, by UC San Diego MFA playwriting graduate Mat Smart, directed by Jackson Gay (Kingdom City), as part of its 2017/2018 season, to run in August, 2017 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

Ayad Akhtar's New Play JUNK Will Bring Financial Civil War to Broadway This Fall

This fall Lincoln Center Theater, in association with The Araca Group, will produce Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar's new play JUNK, directed by Doug Hughes. The production will begin previews Thursday, September 14 and open on Thursday, October 12 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street).

San Diego Performing Arts Organizations Unite for San Diego Theatre Week 2017

The second annual San Diego Theatre Week is gearing up to take place on stages across San Diego county from Sunday, February 26 - Sunday, March 5, 2017. Participating performing arts groups will be offering a variety of special promotions for audience members. Offers include ticket discounts, special events and cast talk-backs.  The mission of San Diego Theatre Week is to highlight the variety and enhance the awareness of San Diego's diverse performing arts community.
