The York Theatre Company present NEO7, a benefit concert celebrating New, Emerging, Outstanding musical theatre writers, last night Monday, May 16 at its home at the Theatre at Saint Peter's. 'NEO' (an acronym for 'New, Emerging, Outstanding') celebrates songwriters primed to pen the next generation of musicals. Since the first NEO concert 6 years ago -- recorded by England's JAY Records-- musical theatre fans and York supporters eagerly anticipate each incarnation. NEO7 included songs by the following new musical theatre writers: Will Aronson & Bill Nelson; Andre Catrini; Adam David Cohen & Patrick Gallagher; Jonathan Matthew Gilbert & John Andrew Tarbet; Tom Gualtieri & David Sisco; Richard Isen; Steven Jamail; Mark McDaniels & Donald Garverick; Mary Liz McNamara; Michael Mitnick; Jonathan Monro; Benjamin Velez; and Derrick Wang. Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff/Producing Artistic Director), by special arrangement with Chase Mishkin, will present free performances of "Me and Miss Monroe", a new musical with book and lyrics by Charles Leipart, music by William Goldstein, directed by John Rando, starring Rachel York as Marilyn Monroe.

Porchlight Music Theatre presents the highly anticipated new musical MEET JOHN DOE, based on the film of the same name by Frank Capra, for the final performance on April 17, 2011 at Stage 773, 1225 W. This success is largely due to the unprecedented advance sales of our annual 6-week musical theatre talent competition LA's Next Great Stage Star 2011, and a series of spectacular debuts by such outstanding Broadway/Nightclub headliners as Nita Whitaker, Jason Graae, Maxine Lapiduss, and Suzanne Petrela. Notable Southland Musical Directors such as James Lent, Nelson Kole, John Boswell, and Michael Orland (of American Idol) also contributed to our 2011 kickoff.'

The new musical DANGEROUS BEAUTY by Jeannine Dominy (book and verse), Michele Brourman (music) and Amanda McBroom (lyrics). Tony Award-nominee Sheryl Kaller directs a cast of twenty that is led by Jenny Powers (Broadway's Grease) as Veronica Franco. The production will close on March 13, 2011 at The Pasadena Playhouse (39 S. El Molino Avenue).
