A twenty-year musical theatre tradition will be streamed live for the first time this year.  New Musicals Inc. will host the 20th STAGES FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS from July 28th through July 30th in North Hollywood, and streamcast it across the globe.

National Alliance for Musical Theatre (Betsy King Militello, Executive Director) is thrilled to announce the line-up of new musicals for their 29th Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 19 and Friday, October 20, 2017 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). The Festival will kick off on Wednesday, October 18 with its celebrated concert, The 46th Minute.

Come From Away, the hit, new musical that began its life and development at Sheridan's Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP) had a strong showing at the 38th annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, presented at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto last night. 

Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), under the leadership of Michael Rubinoff, Associate Dean, Visual and Performing Arts, is an international centre of excellence for the development of new musicals in Canada. Since its inception in 2011, 15 shows have been incubated and continue their development in various stages: Four have enjoyed professional premieres, including Come From Away, which opened on Broadway in 2017 and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Musical.

At a press conference held May 30 in the lobby of the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 235 nominations for the 38th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.

With Come From Away establishing itself as one of the frontrunners at this year's Tony Awards, people are buzzing more than ever. In a recent article by the Washington Post, the producers of the hit new musical discussed the lasting impact that it has been having on its audience.

The Canadian-written new musical COME FROM AWAY, a sold-out smash hit in Toronto and newly opened to great reviews and sold-out houses on Broadway, is set to take Winnipeg by storm, filling in the much-anticipated Royal MTC Mainstage Slot Three for the 2017/18 season.

The new Broadway musical COME FROM AWAY has announced that a limited number of $38 general rush tickets (including the $2 facility fee) will be available at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre box office (236 West 45th Street) when it opens for that day's performance(s). Limited to two tickets per person, tickets are subject to availability. Cash and major credit cards are accepted.

Come From Away is not a musical about the September 11th terrorist attacks - if anything it is the exact opposite. Come From Away is a musical about all that is good in people - compassion, care, love, acceptance, equality, and treating others with kindness. Truly, it is a musical written for now.
