Every artistic company wishes it could come up with a seasonal title that could be come a holiday tradition - their own Nutcracker, Messiah or Christmas Carol to rely on every December.

Westport Country Playhouse will host a holiday online auction, called "Encore! Encore," to support the historic theater, for one week only, from Monday, December 14, at 5 p.m., through Monday, December 21, at 5 p.m.

Westport Country Playhouse has been awarded a $75,000 Challenge Grant from Newman's Own Foundation to increase individual donor support. The Challenge launched on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, to coincide with #GivingTuesday, a national day of philanthropy, and runs through Thursday, December 31, 2015.

As Park Theatre enters its third year, Artistic Director Jez Bond today announces its new season of work, including seven new writing world premieres alongside a number of exciting revivals, and a brand new British musical.

Internationally renowned tenor Alok Kumar will take the stage as a solo concert artist with a program including songs by Liszt, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Ware Center. Kumar's performance will be uniquely influenced by Romani music and culture. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.

A grant of $23,250 to Westport Country Playhouse awarded by Connecticut Humanities will support a series of community events surrounding the Playhouse production of Arthur Miller's "Broken Glass" that will further explore the themes of the play and the legacy of this important American and Connecticut playwright.

Westport Country Playhouse will host "Hirschfeld at the Playhouse," a one-night-only celebration of the artistry of Al Hirschfeld on Monday evening, June 29, with an exhibition of his works and a screening of the documentary about his life and career, "The Line King:  The Al Hirschfeld Story."  

The marvellous Opening Night Gala Performance, like the whole Cabaret Fringe, has found audiences continually increasing. Even this much larger venue was sold out.

Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) today announced its 56th Main Stage season, which features a hilariously suspenseful homage to Alfred Hitchcock, a musical adaptation of a cherished children's story, a gripping reimagination of Martin Luther King Jr.'s last night, a brilliantly witty exploration of class, and the award-winning rock musical with its roots in the East Bay.

Bayou City Concert Musicals will present the 2015 Kim Hupp Award to veteran Houston Producer/Actress Mitzi Wayne Weiss as part of its fundraising event, Something Wonderful: The Music of Rodgers & Hammerstein, at 7:30 p.m., tonight, January 24, 2015, at the Cullen Performance Hall of The University of St. Thomas, 4001 Mt. Vernon.

Playwright A. R. ("Pete") Gurney, one of the most-produced playwrights in the history of Westport Country Playhouse, was celebrated for his body of work at the theater's one-night-only fundraising gala, "A Perfect Party: A Gala Evening Honoring A. R. Gurney," on Monday, September 22. Fourteen productions of Gurney's plays have been staged at Westport Country Playhouse, including one world premiere. Scroll down for photos!

Crackle, the multi-platform digital entertainment network, expands its portfolio of original content with the start of production on its second full-length feature film, THE THROWAWAYS, starring Golden Globe-nominated screen legend James Caan ('Las Vegas,' THE GODFATHER), Kevin Dillon ('Entourage,' PLATOON) and Sam Huntington ('Being Human,' SUPERMAN RETURNS). Written by Michael Ross (TURISTAS), directed by Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award winner Tony Bui (THREE SEASONS) and executive produced by Jeremy Renner (THE HURT LOCKER, THE TOWN) and Don Handfield (KILL THE MESSENGER, TOUCHBACK) through their production company The Combine along with Timothy Linh Bui.
