The Lark Play Development Center is proud to announce the 2010-11 Playwrights Workshop Fellows, which include Neena Beber (Jump/Cut), Carla Ching (2G Artistic Director), Greg Kotis (Urinetown), Tommy Smith (P73 Fellow, Lark PONY Fellow), and Playwright-in-Residence Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife).

Scolari, D'Abruzzo, et al. Set for Off-Bway Premiere of Solms' 'IT MUST BE HIM,' 8/24

Producer Orin Wolf and Off the Aisle Productions have announced that It Must Be Him, a new comedy by Kenny Solms, co-creator and writer of the legendary, Emmy Award-winning 'Carol Burnett Show,' will premiere this summer at the Peter J. Sharp Theatre (416 West 42nd Street). Directed by Daniel Kutner, It Must Be Him will begin performances on Tuesday, August 24, and officially open on Wednesday, September 1. The limited engagement ends Sunday, September 26.

Middle East America: National New Plays Initiative Seeks Round Two of Playwriting Applicants

Middle East America: A National New Plays Initiative, created by Golden Thread Productions in San Francisco, the Lark Play Development Center in New York, and Silk Road Theatre Project in Chicago, is gearing up for the second round of the program which represents the first national effort to actively cultivate and support the development of Middle Eastern-American playwrights and their plays.

PONY Fellowship Awarded To Tommy Smith

After three successful years of the Playwrights of New York (PONY) Fellowship, the Lark PlayDevelopmentCenter is proud to announce that playwright Tommy Smith will be the 2010-11 PONY Fellow, one of the most unique artist fellowships in the country. He will succeed Katori Hall (Olivier Award, THE MOUNTAINTOP) in October 2010.

Lark Play Development Center Presents Koffi Kwahule, 5/13-14

The Lark Play Development Center will host French-African playwright Koffi Kwahulé in New York City on May 13 and 14. Free public readings of Kwahulé's play, THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC, translated by Chantal Bilodeau will be presented at the Lark Studio. The readings are part of Lark's 7 year project to translate, develop, and publish seven of Kwahulé's plays in an effort to both encourage international exchange and to bring to the forefront a unique theatrical voice.
