Built by impresario David Belasco, the ghost of its legendary namesake is said to still haunt the place.

Nominated for eight Tony® Awards, Smokey Joe's Cafe is a musical revue showcasing 39 pop standards from the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's, including rock and roll and rhythm and blues songs written by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The Original Broadway cast recording, Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs Of Leiber And Stoller, won a Grammy Award in 1996. After a Los Angeles tryout, the revue opened on Broadway in 1995, running for 2,036 performances, making it the longest -running musical revue in Broadway history. It also had a London run in 1996. The show will open at Jacksonville's Alhambra Theatre & Dining on August 3, 2016.

Celebrating the release of the original Broadway Cast Recording of TUCK EVERLASTING, cast members Andrew Keenan Bolger, Michael Parkand Michael Wartella joined composer Chris Miller, lyricist Nathan Tysen and co-bookwriter Tim Federle for a three-song performance, discussion and signing at the Barnes and Noble at 86th & Lexington Ave (150 East 86th Street, New York, NY 10028) earlier this month. Ragtime On Ellis Island just announced that Tony Award winner and Original Broadway cast member Brian Stokes Mitchell (Shuffle Along, Man of La Mancha) and acclaimed stage and television star Andy Mientus (Spring Awakening, Les Miserables) have joined the lineup of the highly anticipated site-specific developmental concert on Monday, August 8. The all-star cast, directed by Sammi Cannold (Violet on a moving bus at A.R.T; Assistant Director for Diane Paulus & Rachel Chavkin), will perform a selection of songs from the Tony Award-winning musical that features music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and a book by Terrence McNally. The concert is being presented by Suzanne Friedman with an eye towards an immersive, full production of the acclaimed American musical on Ellis Island in 2017.

Talk about quirkiness and how it makes a musical rock! The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is terribly funny in a smart, slick, offbeat manner with prize worthy characterizations of lively eclectic people.It may be a tad long like the actual spelling out of words (that are not to be believed!)yet the exaggeration and contestants' varied reactions give rise to some great comic moments...and I love the audience involvement! Some of the contestants are picked from the audience and their ad-libs lend one.of.a.kind hilarity. The unpredictability in denouement is another big plus in the overall enjoyment of the show. It's like a real contest. Who will win is anybody's guess!

The Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime will receive a one-night site-specific developmental concert on Ellis Island on August 8, 2016. An all-star cast of Broadway and Off-Broadway veterans including Olivier winner Laura Michelle Kelly, Tony and Grammy nominee Brandon Victor Dixon, Emmy winner Michael Park, Robert Petkoff, Shaina Taub, and five-time Emmy nominee Georgia Engel will perform a selection of songs from the American musical with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Sammi Cannold will direct the concert in anticipation of a full production in 2017.

Producer Stacey Mindich has announced that tickets for the highly anticipated Broadway premiere of the original musical Dear Evan Hansen will go on sale this Sunday, June 19 at 9 AM via Telecharge.com.
