Broadway-bound director Michael Mayer was at last night's BIG FISH opening to celebrate with his past colleagues, and while he was there he revealed some of his history with his upcoming show- HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. He told Richard Ridge: 'In fact, I was the director that John Cameron Mitchell started working with a million years ago on it, but I had a show called Triumph of Love that happened at the same time so I couldn't move on with it. So there is this great feeling of coming full circle.'

Two rising young sopranos will make their Met debuts earlier than originally scheduled when they share the role of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto later this fall, replacing Aleksandra Kurzak, who has withdrawn due to pregnancy. Russian soprano Irina Lungu will sing the role on November 11, 15, and 18, and Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva will sing the role on November 21, 27, 30, December 4, and at the December 7 matinee. Kurzak is expecting a baby this winter with her partner, tenor Roberto Alagna.

Digital entertainment curator FilmBuff announced today that it would release the rocking documentary BROADWAY IDIOT chronicling the momentous collaboration between rock and roll icons, Green Day and the 'Great White Way' to create American Idiot on Broadway. FilmBuff, in partnership with Abramorama, will release the film nationwide in theaters and on VOD October 18 with an exclusive theatrical engagement in New York starting October 11th.
