BWW Review: Underdone Gem WORKING Shows Off the Working Class at Showtunes

It's something most of us have to do at least 5 days a week, go to work. So you'd think a musical about folks and their working lives would resonate more. But the musical "Working", despite being loved by musical theater nerds, never really caught on. In fact it only ran for 24 performances on Broadway back in 1978. But thankfully the folks at Showtunes have done what they do and dusted this one off for a weekend so more people can discover how wonderful it is.

Voctave is an a capella group of singers from the Central Florida area.  Members of the group have performed all over the world with multiple artists and in countless venues. The group has gained millions of views over social media platforms such as their Youtube and Facebook. They have covered such songs as 'This Is My Wish,' 'All is Well' and a Disney Love Medley featuring Kirstin Maldonado and Jeremy Michael Lewis.

BoHo Theatre presents EURYDICE, Sarah Ruhl's lyrical reimagining of the classic Greek myth, directed by Charles Riffenburg with movement choreography by Melissa McNamara. The play reworks the tragic myth of Orpheus from the point of view of his bride, Eurydice, exploring the power of love and grief through poetry and absurdism. Ruhl is the author of such critically acclaimed works as THE CLEAN HOUSE, DEAD MAN'S CELL PHONE, and IN THE NEXT ROOM (OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY).

The Metropolitan Room hosted two simultaneous events last night. The 10th year of the MAC Award Winning Benefit Series Cabaret Cares, and the 3rd 40th Birthday of the charities creator Joseph Macchia. The non profit Joseph started 10 years ago has raised over $100,000 to help children living with HIV and AIDS. It was a cabaret spectacular and Broadwayworld was there to catch all the action. Writer/Director Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights, You're Welcome America) and Funny Or Die have joined forces with Archie Comics,one of the most popular comics ever produced, to bring Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and the Riverdale gang to Broadway in an all-new musical.  McKay is slated to bring his singular brand of comedy to the musical, writing the book for the show, with a creative team and timing for a New York run to be announced at a later date.
