Pena - will continue its 2010-11 season with FLIPZOIDS, a play written by Mr. Pena, with previews set to begin January 11 prior to an official opening on January 18 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre (416 W. 42 St.) in Manhattan.

The Wendy Wasserstein Prize committee and administrator, the Theatre Development Fund, caused quite the stir this month when reports flourished that the $25,000 prize would not be awarded to an emerging female playwright this year. Out of 19 nominees, the panel stated that none could be deemed 'truly outstanding.'

Playwright Michael Lew, on the official YOUNGBLOG blog (the group blog for the Ensemble Studio Theatre of New York's young playwrights) has written an open letter to TDF regarding the news that no Wasserstein Prize will be awarded in 2010 due to the panel not finding a play that they deemed to be 'truly outstanding'.
